Changes… Incredible Changes!

I’ve been thinking… and watching movies with my daughter while I fold a MOUNTAIN of clothes. It’s a dangerous combination of chores.
.
Someone mentioned to me the other day that the names I have chosen for the Cast of Characters here on my blog are kinda mixed-up. They were suggesting it would be easier to have single names for my husband and daughter, rather than three letter acronyms. After all, ‘The Little Woman’ and ‘Serious Sexy Bloke’ (while apt) can feel a bit bizarre mid-conversation.

But this person said that ‘Dash’ was the absolute right name of my little man. Fitted him like a glove!

And I thought no more of this conversation… til today.
.
Then this afternoon I was watching The Incredibles with The Little Woman. It’s easily one of my favourite movies (we watch kids’ movies a lot at this stage in our lives!). And as we watched Violet peer through her jet black fringe, I looked at my daughter.
Her (admittedly blonde) locks were in their usual disarray and her twinkling eyes peered out through the veil of ‘bwonde haiw’ at me. And the super force-field of her Mad Face came to mind. Hmmmm, I thought.
.
And then, as I pulled burrs from socks, I noticed how Mr Incredible was blond (like SSB) and big (like SSB) and quite handsome in a super-hero-kinda way (like SSB).
Not that SSB wears tights.
Or lifts steam engines for muscle-building.
Well, not often.
Double Hmmmmm.
.
And I thought:
Well, my butt is certainly bigger than it was in my Early Action Days.
Just like Elastigirl’s

And although I’m not as flexible as I once was, I DO have double jointed fingers.
That counts surely?
And if not, then the irony and sarcasm of such a connection would be worth a giggle!
Triple Hmmmmm….
.
And I wondered:

Can one change the names of one’s loved ones mid-blog?

And if not, why not?

Will y’all cope if I throw this kind of spanner* in the works?

.

*Where spanner = changing names
Where Mr Incredible = Serious Sexy Bloke (SSB)

And where Violet = The Little Woman (TLW).

And where ElastiGirl might sometimes be Bush Babe in disguise??
(Cause a girl can never have too many aliases!)
.
Oh, and I got a new sign-off.
It’s not actually my real writing.
But I wish it was.
(Thanks for the idea Cher and Shirley!)

I’ve got to watch that movie again! I LOVE The Incredibles! And, heh! Bush Babe–whose blog is this anyway? You can do whatsoever you wanna–unless . . . certain of your followers throw you some flak, but barring that, have fun. Somehow, though, some of us slower folk might get confused since we’re kinda used t’ SSB and TLW. I like those acronyms. ‘Spose if I didn’t I wouldn’t keep comin’ back for more!

And yes! You and your family are incredible! Thanks for sharing!

WV “knoxynced” to one and all!

Absolutaly LOVE the Incredibles! And see no problem with you changing the names mid-blog. See, you have explained the change here, so it shouldn’t phase anyone!

Okay, we are SO twins separated at birth and sent to opposite ends of the earth to live our lives.

Seriously, I JUST watched that movie this week even though my kids are all grown now, then I loaned it to a friend who’d never seen it. We go to a photography club together, and there is a woman who looks and talks exactly like that woman in the movie who makes all the super-hero costumes.

    That’s just too funny….

Oh oh oh – darling – so does that make the bother Freezo? And can I be Edna – oh please oh please oh please?

    Dahling!

    WT? My WV is broispew!

  • Debby

Hey, take a cue from the ‘stars’ in America. They do whatever they please, and their legion of slavish fans just follow along gushing and applauding.

*that BB and her family! Aren’t they just the greatest? Who cares what name they’re calling themselves this week!*

    *applauds*

Hey Elastigirl!!! I believe you can do what pleases you. After all you are a superhero! Right?
I am having trouble deciding what to call my beloveds hence no posts about them yet – they all are feeling seriously neglected!
    Cheers

Ah thanks guys – my ‘legion of fans’ – all six of you!!! I might have to put a cast of characters on the sidebar… hmmmmm. Anything to avoid the ironing pile!!

Gem – know your dilemma. Mine kinda morphed themselves with little planning (obviously). Deb just uses first names which is good. Others use shortened versions or pseudomyns or general references. Choose your poison!

Pam – yuh-huh. Except for the whole loose tooth thing, eh? I thought you were boycotting me?? Heh.

Jeanie – you can SO be EDNA MODE. She is ‘da bomb’! The funniest character in the movie. But then you’ll have to change YOUR blog, and then where will we all be. Confused, that’s where! The Pig will have to stay the Pig… he’s just the wrong colour, shape etc to be Frozone!!!

Remudamom – you are a woman after my own heart. Duct tape. Invaluable!

Natarojo – thanks! Glad to see you coming back for more… off to check you out now…

PW – you are too sweet. I haven’t totally decided to change the names (suspect I will confuse myself as much as anyone else!). Sidebar characters may be the go.

    Hugs
    BB

Sorry for the late entry. I want to be included in the legions of fans.

My feelings are that you can call yourself whatever you want and we’ll still read the adventures. I do like your current names but could adjust to new ones.

That is a great movie. Hope you’re having a great weekend and enjoying your warm weather. It’s snowing here.

  • Bush Babe

Oh Portia. Thanks. You guys are so nice. *shuffles red-faced*. The weather is warm and sticky here (not unlike at Jeanie’s) but no wind thank heavens!

And my signature doesn’t look as good as I had hoped. That black background. Another of my stubborn blog decisions. Ah well. Workin’ on it!

    🙂

Love it!!!! I was laughing so hard as i read along. Your family matches perfectly, it’s amazing, you might even say ‘Incredible’? Ha! I crack myself up! And really you could change the names everyday and it wouldn’t change the faces behind them. We love you and your family and your awesome adventures Down Under.

BB – It’s a secret and you mustn’t tell anyone. Cara’s middle name is Violet. She always hated it, but she was named after a dear sweet woman who turned 99 earlier this week. After the Incredibles came out, it changed her view a little about the name Violet. Maybe if you began to call your daughter Violet, I could point out that, as well, and she’d begin to see her middle name as more than a freakish burden thrust upon herself by her mother.

Ah. Who am I kidding? The Incredibles changed nothing. The kid has always hated her middle name. My only defense is to point out names even odder than hers, like Aardvark.

  • jeanie

Deb, you tell Cara I went to school with two sisters – the girl in my year was lucky, her middle name was “Eucalyptus”. The older sister had “Meleleuka”.

Violet would have been sweet and pure in their worlds, I am sure.

Sorry my comments about 4 days late now, but I really like the original names you gave your family! 🙁 I hope I can cope!!
    Regards, Leonie.
