Weekend warriors…

Weekends for most people are a relaxing time.
A time to take some respite from a hard-workin’ week.
To do something different from the everyday.

For most.

Can you guess what our weekend consisted of? Oh sure, we were away from Granite Glen for a few hours. And sure, there was the happy cameraderie of friendly faces…

Hello Jude. Hello Pete.

I have known this wonderful couple my whole life.

They are also known as The Scorer and The Timekeeper respectively.

On weekends.

And here’s another friendly face…

Hello Mr Incredible.

OK, he’s not looking all that friendly. He’s in Concentrating Mood. You don’t want to be interrupting this particular mood. Or taking photos of it. Just so you know.
This is what he is concentrating on…

Thundering hooves.

And some more thundering hooves…

And here is (Super) Trooper, Mr Incredible’s stalwart steed…

He’s watching thundering hooves and wondering when it’s his turn…
to thunder.

Now I have to admit I was much more nervous than Mr Incredible at his very first campdrafting event, and failed to take any decent photos of my husband in action…
with the possible exception of this one.

…taken just as he’s about to leap from the camp behind the steer into the main arena.

For the record, he didn’t win.

But boy he had fun.

And he has assured me that there will be many weekends in my future just like this one.

You wanna know who did win?

This talented and determined rider…

Man, she was amazing. Totally fearless.

And that’s just one of the great things about the sport of campdrafting.

It’s totally unisex.

Chicks win and it really annoys (some of) the boys. Heh.

Girl Power rules!

(Sorry Mr I. Had to be said. Love you! Better luck next time, baby!)

Love those shots – your photos are fantastic lately – loving them. That’s not to say they weren’t always fantastic! They just really speak to me lately!
Love the shot of Mr I with the sky and clouds behind – that needs to go on your wall.

Deb – oh I know. And to be clear, he wasn’t in the slightest bit upset that a woman won. He will argue a woman wins all the time in his house!!!

Gem – thanks darl. I had so much fun taking them. I’m a bit lost anywhere without my Nikon. Wouldn’t know what to do with my hands!!!
    🙂

Wow, great shots BB!! That one of your mister with the clouds should replace the one of Hugh Jackman on your sidebar. Your hubby is movie star goodlookin’ and I’m guessing he doesn’t even know it, which only increases the handsome factor by the power of ten.

Your life is so different from mine. What am I going to write home about? Going out last night to a French restaurant for a big party with friends? (It was pretty good. I can’t lie. There’s something about warm brie and cranberries in pastry….)

    And we STILL HAVE SNOW.

Good grief, my WV is pombill

Have I ever told you my nickname is Pommie? It’s because my younger brother couldn’t pronounce Pam. I understand it means something else Down Under. 😉

Awesome photos… I love ’em all, but the one of Mr.I exploding into the main arena and the photo of the girl that won… wow!!! I love your action shots showing how the horse and rider are working together.

    Words fail me.

I almost felt like I was there yelling w/ you & the rest of the crowd! Great photos. And I agree that you should replace Hugh Jackman (who's also incredibly yummy) w/ Mr I.

And what's the saying? "Girls rule; boys drool"? Well maybe not always!

Those are some of the most awesome action shots I have seen!! Awesome!! Mr. I did great!! And yep, you can’t win them all, but dang you can sure try and he sure did!! Good work Mr. I!!!

  • Pony Girl

The photos in this post are super, BB! 😉 I can’t wait to watch one of these live! Well, not sure when I might ever get to, but I hope so!

Your photographs are quite nice on this blog. I saw the ones you had for sale and they are gorgeous. Love your watermark, as well. I’ve been selling mine on etsy and my jury is still out as to whether or not I’m liking doing it that way.

This totally reminds me of the time my husband and I visited Oz. I entered my poem in a talent contest at a bar in Airlie Beach and won a horseback ride in the outback where we rode out to a billabong for tea. IT WAS SO MUCH FUN!!! We loved Oz and its wonderful people.
