Wednesday-ish Weather Watch…. from Paradise

Oh heaven’s above… nearly forgot my Wednesday World Weather Watch (or as I like to call it: The Attack of the Alliterated W’s!)

I am mid-road-trip with four-year-old in tow, and staying at Sister Jeanie’s tonight. She’s free and easy with her laptop (God Love Her!) and the weather here is balmy as Paradise should be. The landscape whizzing by has been crackling dry. From Granite Glen (which enjoyed a brief teasing shower a week ago, bringing just 4mm of rain … the only rain in over almost two months) to RockVegas (sprawlingly set on a wide open parched flat on the equally brown Fitzroy River) and for three hours drive south, the view has been unrelentingly sepia. OK, there is an equally-relentless unbroken blue sky rising from the monotone vista. And OK, some of the eucalypt and brigalow foliage offers that grey-green of the Aussie bush… but mostly… brown and dry.

Can you all blame me for coveting the rain pelting down in Pennsylvania and Oklahoma?
(Being thoroughly under-appreciated by its recipients I might note!)
Before the forecasts, I decided to put up one of my all-time favourite (and vaguely related) songs by the incredible Tina Turner. It was filmed in 1985, when I had just left school and undoubtedly attempted to wear a jumpsuit exactly like this one!

Oh Tina… I COULD stand the rain… honestly I could!

And so to the forecast for (what remains of our) Wednesday:
PARADISE
Current temp: 14.5 degrees Celsius
Outlook: 11-24 degrees, sunny and calm
.
GRANITE GLEN

Current temp: 14 degrees Celsius
Outlook: 5-26 degrees, sunny and calm
.
And how is Mother Nature treating you today, my friends?

Too DARN hot!!! 101F yesterday in the shade 🙁
No wonder I like snow so much – I feel like a soggy wet diaper and that's been my attitude since this weather rolled in.

They are predicting cooler temps by Thursday – I'm praying they are right!

Hope you get much needed rain soonb.

Beautiful here in South Dakota. We are getting a little rain, which is kind of putting a damper on (no pun intended) getting my roof replaced. About 75 F or 24 C. Really lovely.

It's been hot and humid here in Michigan. Summer has finally arrived. I've been running the air conditioning for at least a week now. I don't mind the heat but the humidity is killer! Today's high is 80 degrees (which isn't too bad) but the humidity is high. Scattered thunderstorms are predicted for tonight which would be good as we haven't had rain in more than a week.

It is hot and humid and tomorrow — thunderstorms. The rain is unappreciated here in Pennsylvania. If you receive a soggy box in the mail, you will know that we've boxed our weather up and shipped it to where it will be appreciated. We had over six inches of rain in a two day period.

I live in Oklahoma and I truly appreciated the rain. Gave us a bit of cooling off and I didn't have to water,

In Southwestern Ontario we're FINALLY getting some summer weather!! 28-30 over the weekend, and humid. Today was 26, and sunny. But, there is a chance of thunderstorms all this week because of the hot weather. Not too bad…. I love storms. I don't like losing power though….. Oh well.

  • Bush Babe

Heather – that sounds wonderful! Hope your storms are power-ful (not power-less… terrible joke!)

Helen – didn't mean to tar all you OK's (what is correct term for persons residing in Oklahoma?) – a twittering Ree Drummond almost complained about the constant rain in her neck of the woods and I inferred… apologies!!! Heh.

DW – Air Health Quality Index?? what the hey is that? Sounds very very green… heh! Your summer sounds quite lovely…

Debby – I shall be checking the mailbox daily for my package… sadly we only get mail twice a week, but on the offchance you send it with a courier, I will be vigilant!! Sorry you are so soggy… shall I send you some dust in return?

Rhubarb – a frightening sight I assure you. Perhaps I should look out embarrassing photos – a contest?? *pauses and ponders this brilliant idea*

Deb (Michigan) – I shall be wishing for rain and relief for you too!! Am hoping it gets warm enough here to signal some rain…

Lydia – *sigh* bliss!! Hope your roof gets completed before too much precipitation!!!

Deb (MAine)- thanks hon. Hope your humidity eases – my face would be seriously shiny where you are… a make-up free T-zone!!!

T-Lee – not looking to take your heat, but that humidity I would happily relieve you of!!!

    🙂

Oh you sound like my sis – she is suffering so badly…..No bloody rain at all. They had to slaughter a bunch of their herd the other day due to the drought and no food – awful for her. As tough as she is, I know it is killing her. I feel so bad for her.
