Spurs and friendship…

My friend Debby sent me these amazing spurs last year.spurs_0032
We both adore old, weathered things,
things chock-full of history,
with stories, with life written all over them.

I have never met Debby – well not in person anyway.
It’s a funny old world we live in these days…
when someone you have never laid eyes on can be considered a real friend.
A part of your life.
But she is.

And her news today rocked me.
My main reaction is that I want to do something to help.
It’s hard when I live all the way here,
and she lives all the way in Pennsylvania USA.
I can’t drop by.
Well, except to her blog.
If for some reason,
you have never been to Life’s Funny Like That,
please do yourself a favour.
Drop by and trawl a while.
She’s brave, strong, funny, smart and real.
I haven’t worked out how I am gonna be a
real friend for her yet.
But I will.
I will.
And I’ll do something I don’t do too often,
I’ll pray.
She’d like that,
God-fearin’ woman that she is.
It’s a start…

Oh, gees, BB, you're every bit as real as my Velveteen Rabbit. :^D

After the initial socks knocked off shock was done, it did occur to me that I'd probably be getting to Australia sooner than I expected. I got these wine glasses, and it would certainly be a shame not to deliver them in person, now wouldn't it?

We don't know what this means. I will get me hence to the oncologist, and we'll figure out what comes next.

Gosh I am touched… Velveteen rabbit hey? I guess that's as real as… well, a stuffed bunny.

I have the chardonnay if you have the vessels my friend… and the twain SHALL meet. Someday…
    🙂

I love those old spurs. Lot of tales to tell in those.
We're praying hard for Debby. Wish I could be there to hold her hands thru this. Tough times. Really tough times…

I love the spurs and i love the velveteen rabbit and i love friends that are likened unto the velveteen rabbit! Lot's of prayers heading your way Debby. I have loved getting to know you since discovering you on BB's site and wish that i could join you and bb in Australia!

I have to say that I firmly believe that prayer is one of the most powerful forces in the universe . . .Pray on!!! The more prayers for the same purpose become exponential in their power with our Creator–who loves and watches over us all. Debby–many, many prayers for you are offered daily by those who care about you–and for Tim, too.

PS I forgot to mention how I loved those spurs when you first posted ONE of them! And I hope somehow you and Debbie can cross the "big water" and share some good times together. Friends infuse so much joy and goodness into our daily lives–especially when we really need it. I'm glad to call you, BB, and you, Debby, my friends. Thanks to the blogosphere.

Isn't this blog business great? It was through Debby's blog (who I found through Bob) that led me to yours and Scotty's.

Anyway, I can certainly understand how a cyberfriend can become a "real" friend. I have a few of those myself!

I'm praying for Debby. Also hope you get that face to face before too long! My sister and I had a wonderful weekend at a central location with a couple of our cyberfriends and we had a GREAT time!! We each had friends that worried "what if y'all don't like each other when you meet in person… and you'll be stuck there for a whole weekend?!". We KNEW that wouldn't be the case.

Sitting here in an old (1854) inn after leaving my Youngest at university. I'm feeling fragile because of it, and I'm just feeling crappy about Deb….I wish it was better news.
