The Bush,  Weather

New month, new header, no new weather!

Thought I’d sneak a little peak into the making of a blog header for y’all… no idea if anyone is remotely interested in how I come up with my bizarre ‘doorway’ into the Bush Babe blog, but thought I’d share a snapshot or two anyway!
I was driving home from Rock-Vegas yesterday afternoon (a long day filled with driving, grocery shopping and editing video footage… rivetting stuff!) when I saw a photo opportunity. Actually, it’s rare that I DON’T see photo opportunities (it’s kind of a curse really, just ask my hubby – hell of ETAs!) and I often keep on driving, aware of my schedule. But I made myself act on it this time. The ever-changing landscape and weird dust-tinted atmosphere converged into a really interesting shot.
Well, series of shots.

These were all taken within about one kilometre of highway,
same windmill,
different angles.
roadwindmill_0991
Groovy, no?

And when I looked at my blog today,
and then the date,
I decided:
Alrighty then!
Time for a change!
Time to dabble in Photoshop…
So I chose the last of these images (nice and clean to allow for the wording) and pulled up last months banner:

And dragged my old font work across from previous banners
(saved in PSD format which preserves each layer of image and text, allowing me to ‘harvest’ the basic ‘look’ of my header from month to month… did your eyes just go all stary?)

So I took the ‘Bush Babe’ and the ‘of Granite Glen’ across to my windmill image and began work on a new look.

If you have been ’round here much at all, you will know that I can’t have a ‘straight’ image in the header… that wouldn’t really be me, would it?
A little something left of centre, maybe…
Something like this?
lilbulls_1494
Well, it’s left of centre for HIM!!
And yes, that WAS me cracking myself right up there!
I also adore a particular script font I decided on for the taglines –
it’s called Jane Austen and it’s my current crush.
(Am I the only person who crushes on fonts? Yes, fine, OK. I’m a freak!).
It’s lovely and scrawly and elegant.
Therefore it has one of those three things in common with me…
(and if you’ve seen my chook scratch running writing you will know what I mean!)

So …
here ’tis.

LOVE IT!!! LOL He actually has a very interesting tongue! Hope all is well down there. Looks like we might be in for some rain this month. Fingers crossed.
    Don't forget I owe you a coffee!

I like fonts too. Where do you get yours from? Love that Jane Austen font. I'd be weird if I said I loved the bull tongue up the nose, but as always love your images! I should be more proactive with changing my banner/header, shouldn't I?

Babe, I also like lots of fonts for different moods. Great job on the header (I liked the one you showed but didn't use, showing your eyes with a snap and crackle stare – made me say yes ma'am) A note about bull snot; sometimes when they swing their head they sling about a cupful and you cannot get that stuff off of a good felt hat. This is a great site, thank you for your efforts. – Bill

Love it!! I need to start playing around with my headers too. But right now I am playing with too many other things. HA! Love your photos. I feel kind of bad that I can see your blog and you can't see mine. I am getting ready to send you an email that I received from typepad. 🙂 give me a few, I am trying to do 100 things at one time. And it is working. Yikes!!!

Holy Bull Nostril, BB!!! That header definitely screams YOU. You have to forgive the bull; he doesn't have a finger.

Font freak here. Also windmill lover (almost didn't make it across Kansas for the stopping and shooting). The colors and the tag line (bull dust-lol)are winners.

Don't ya just wish at times you could get your tongue around things like that?

    Love the new header.

I had a dairy farm for about 12 years, and was always impressed with the many abilities of a cow. Your header has particularly demonstrated one of my favorites. Amazing creatures… great post!

  • Debby

'I love the cow? Good Pick?' Danielle Michelle, was that a pun?

BB – Rhubarb said that they had rain…did you folks get rain? Enough to make puddles?

  • Jayne

My 12 yr old is studying intro to photography through uni atm and is LOVING learning all the angles, lighting, compositions, etc, and is learning how to rearrange/edit his pics.
Just showed him your headers and he loved them 😉

Wow… a girls sneaks off from her blog for a sec and comes back… 20 comments? I need a quick cup of tea and a lie down… seriously? Thanks for taking the time to drop me a line, you sweet things!!

WHo knew a snot-licking bull would arouse so much interest… yer all a little sick, methinks! Whew…

Kurrajong – you recognise that windmill… not so very far from you (well maybe 30km or so)!! And never fear, I NEVER forget a coffee!!!

Jeanie – those who adore you KNOW you can do this too… I am just biding my time til I get photographic evidence.

Debby – had 15 drops of rain precisely. And twitter talk of people being sick of rain is kinda making me crazy. I may have to give up Twitter (that sound is my husband chucking a small party).

Julie – please quit teasing me. You are just plain cruel (Aussie wry 'wit' there, in case you missed it!)

Gotta go catch some z's peoples… thanks to all font freaks and bull-tongue afficianados for dropping by! Love youse all…
    🙂

Jeanie can do that cow thing with her tongue?

    *shock and awe*

Why am I fascinated by this? In a horrible kind of way?

Tell us about the day you all made this amazing discovery. That sounds like a funny darn story.
