Weather and wattle
I jave a bit of a love-hate relationship with this Season – you know, the one known as Spring. The one that arrived yesterday, with warmer temperatures and amid all kinds of explosions.
Explosions of fire – the man-made variety which get started after late winter rain (if we are lucky). The aim is to tidy up the old dry grass and let the sweet fresh new grass come through. It’s all about timing – too soon and it won’t burn. Too late and it burns too ‘hot’. Or gets out of control. Lucky for us, the property owners and managers around here are pretty well schooled in handling fires. Nice cool burns which don’t scorch the earth, but tidy up all those places where those bloomin’ rabbits like to hide!
Ain’t it pretty? (Hey, I’m the daughter of a semi-pyromaniac, what can I say?)
There are drifts of smoke everywhere. It won’t last long, but my dryer is getting a workout (no clothesline use while the air smells like a barbecue!)
And the other explosion is this:
Wattle. In bloom. EVERYWHERE.
Did you know it was National Wattle Day yesterday? Well it was. Which is nice and patriotic and all that – except wattle makes me … well…
TAWK LIKE DIS…
Hayfever city baby. Not fun. Haven’t smelled a thing in days. So despite radio broadcasters urging me to ‘wear a spray’ I resisted the urge. Lest I spray others with something less than sanitary. Ah-choo! No amount of antihistimine seems to touch it. I just have to wait it out. Lucky I am so patient. Honk!
If drugs won’t work, I need you guys to make me feel better… so I ask:
Anyone else have allergies?
Do you know any surefire remedies for a nose that just won’t quit?
How about a change of season story from your part of the world?

Hi BB, Hayfever – yuck – we hate it in this house! Our answer – drugs!
We take whatever we didn’t take last year because you can build up an immunity to one particular drug over time.
On the natural sideof things I can’t help you – we gave up that years ago!
But we do feel for you immensely!
Our change of season has seen us preparing cages and enclosures for a multitude of baby birds that typically come in during spring.
With you in sneezing

Sorry your nose and sinuses are revolting (take that word however you wish). The smoke does provide some nice photo ops though.
No hayfever problem here, but I know plenty who suffer. I’m ignoring the fact that warm weather is fading. Even though I had to suck it up and put on a jacket for my morning walk.

I have a lovely head cold right now and sound like you,,,ACHOO back at ya Babe 🙁 I fortunatly donot have allergy’s just adversions to things like cold weather. we have had the coolest, rainest summer here. The leaves on the trees are turning color and we have to start thinking about getting ready for winter (think snow). I am going to go and cry in my coffee now…….

Oh, I feel for ya! I have terrible allergies! I get awful hayfever, but I’m also allergic to horses, hay, some wood shavings and a whole bunch of other stuff that I love and have to “power through” the crappy allergy stuff so I can enjoy.
I’ve been taking a once daily allergy med though and it’s been working pretty well. The thing with allergies is you have to take drugs before you get sick. Once you’re sneezing and stuffy, there really isn’t much that can be done, unless you want to totally OD on allergy meds and spend a day or two passed out. lol
Hope you feel better soon!

I get my share of sinus and allergy issues…. sinus much more severely than allergy.
I’m out of the habit of using mine, but a neti pot does help.

Dylan and Cara have allergies. Dylan has lots and lots of allergies. Cara only has a few but what she is allergic too she is very allergic to. We should buy stock in Kleenex.

Wattle is probably the only thing that doesn’t make my nose go these days. and I get itchy spots that I think are food related. And I’m asthmatic, so allergies are my life. I long for my childhood when I never needed tissues unless I had a cold. *sigh*
But it is certainly sad to get such bad reactions to something so pretty.

Thanks for the sympathy peoples… and the virtual tissues. *HONK*
Snapping out of whinge mode NOW!
