A week to remember (1)…
I would apologise for my lack of news updates from Granite Glen lately, but I think you would understand once you read this… it has been an UNBELIEVABLE week.
Our social and weather lives have collided in one almighty clash.
I have so many photos of event, I might break them up into a series of post to explain – starting at Christmas Eve (Friday).
With a lot of flooding around, we had been in two minds about going away for Christmas. And then Friday arrived fairly clear with no big rain forecast until Monday. So, with all of my hubbys family waiting for us in Gladstone, we bit the bullet, packed the Prado, and headed out…
Through this (near the Bunyip Hole) and then…
Through this… water halfway up the guideposts!
Amazing…
There was other water along the way, but we felt quite safe everywhere as we forded across flood crossings.
We spent a total of less than 48 hours at my sister-in-law’s wonderful place – a three-level house at the coast filled with Christmas mayhem.
Five couples, eleven grandchildren and delighted chaos …
Please note that the granddaughter-to-grandson ratio is 2.5:1 – the boys don’t stand a chance! And yes, there are at least two sets of boy hands in the above photo…
There was a lotta present-opening, a lotta conversation and a WHOLE lotta food.
Yummo….
I have to admit that I didn’t relax as I should have during festivites. I was worrying about leaving a couple of sick animals at home with neighbours looking after them, and wondering if we’d be able to get back to them safely… I think the BOM (Bureau of Meterology) website got checked every hour.
And the predictions and radar maps got more and more threatening…
We decided to leave first thing Sunday morning (Boxing Day) – despite being the last to arrive and the first to leave…
And as we pulled away from Mr Incredible’s family waving us off, the rain, it was PELTING down.
(to be continued…)

I’ve been wondering how you’ve fared in all this rain.
Glad you had a great Christmas and managed to get your self home and dry again 🙂
