Say a little Prayer…

It’s a certified fact that I don’t go to church very often…

I’m a Christian, but one of those free-range versions.  The kind who talk to the Big Fella (in an informal manner) in what I consider the Biggest Church of Them All… somewhere outdoors.  I joke that when I get to and pray properly that He listens – it’s such a shock to His system to hear from me when my head is bowed and my hands clasped!  That said, I totally respect others for being more formal in their religion – whatever it may be.  Whatever works for you, I say.

Sometimes though, I get a little more serious.  Like this week.  This week, as I recover from the Royal Wedding (wasn’t it gorgeous?) and news that the Oz dollar is now around $1.10 US (all those extra boots I could have bought!) and then blanket coverage of the passing of Osama Bin Laden (an event that has disturbed rather than reassured me) and then yesterday I read about my friend Julie, at Another Chance Ranch.

Like so many other special people in my life, Julie is facing breast cancer.  Her news seems (like it always does) so bloody unfair.  Jools (as she kindly allows me to call her) has already faced down serious heart problems in her 40 years, and now finds herself facing this least-wanted of challenges.  She is facing it brave and defiant and positive, she and her wonderful hubby (who will no doubt be her rock).

As always, I am at a loss to know what to say.  What to do.  How to best be a friend, when I am SO very far away.  So (as I have done before when my internety friends are battling Something Serious) I will keep up my tap-dancing routine here.  I will be the Light Relief. I will keep up the FairyBlogTale right up to when we visit with the delightful Jools, and I will share the various craziness going on here at Granite Glen.  I cannot do much but I will keep entertaining in my own silly way.

Know though, Julie and Jayne and my other friends who currently face more than their share of challenges, that I am aching for you.  And sending virtual hugs.  And wishing they were real ones.  And even clasping these hands briefly in prayer.

I am posting a new Hug Gatherer* into my sidebar.

It is a pic I took of Happy Family sparrows all huddled together during the floods here. With a little message for my friends.  I just thought it was appropriate – all that huddling and hugging and ‘happy’, against bigger, unhappier things.

I have used one before …

…to silently let my visitors know they are in my thoughts.  I don’t mind in the least if you would like to to use this simple image too, in your own sidebar. (200 px and 300 px version below for your use).

Back to the FairyBlogTale tomorrow.  There’s snow.  And kids.  (A fairly fabulous combo!)

🙂
