You know that feeling?
The one you get when everything seems cruisy.
Like the hard work is over and it’s time give your horse a drink and then relax.
Like all you can think about is some yummy chocolate cake for smoko, a cool drink and a maybe a well-earned swim…
Well my Dash knows that feeling…
And he also knows the very rude awakening from that daydream when you realise your horse has simply been plotting the whole time to TRY AND GET THE SADDLE OFF. (And you with it).
Should have noted that when asked when he noticed his horse was rolling, he said: when my boots hit the sand!!!
Thanks Lachy for diving in and helping out.
No children or saddles were harmed in the making of this slideshow.

That could have been nasty. Luck Dash wasn’t still in the saddle. Bush kids seem to be able to think on their feet pretty quick. Good on you Lachie, love that about our bush kids.

Oh, naughty boy. Good thing nobody was hurt!

I saw trouble when I saw Pickles pawing at the water with one hoof. I’ve been caught out with that myself.
Horses are terribly inelegant upside-down, aren’t they?

What a little rotter is Pickles!

Well that was very amusing.
However, seems that there was no bucking?
Or young Dash doing a “superman” stunt of flying somewhere unexpectedly.
Did the horse just decide it wanted a “roll” ?
I have never heard or seen a horse pull this stunt before. Have you?
Still he got back on and let the horse and so the muster continued. The Cattle looked rather bemused with these antics.
Cheers

Ooops!
I was so busily studying the photos (video thing):
Should read:
“Still he,Dash, got back on and let the horse know who was the boss and so the muster continued”

I too saw the future when I saw the pawing of the hoof – been on the top (and subsequent side) once (or thrice) too often to not have that one stored for future reference!!

How, exactly, did our Dash wind up off his horse, and on his feet safely at the sidelines watching the whole thing?

And I love the way those two cows are watching the whole scenario. They looked a little disgusted. I imagine them saying, “Well, I NEVER…”

Your saddles with no horns are more prone to survive the occasional roll. When I was a youngster and we would go to Tennessee for family reunions I’d get to ride the horse that my aunt and uncle kept on their place and the saddle had no horn on it… they called it a plantation saddle and it was sure comfortable. Glad Dash was able to step out and not get hurt… in fact it looks like he and Lachy were having a bit of a laugh about the experience.
