Books and me (elsewhere)

I have a long-time blog buddy who visits here regularly, who has become a friend behind the scenes as well.

We have a lot in common, this woman and I.  We both love photography, we both love writing, we both help work our farms and are passionate about the rural sector of this great and bountiful nation we call home.  We live  on opposite sides of the country but maintain our mateship through social media and email (and even an old-fashioned phone call once in a while).

Her name is Fleur MacDonald – best-selling author of three (almost four) outstanding Australian novels.  She is one clever chook!

And she asked me recently to take some shots of her gorgeous books, to feature on her new-look website…

So I posed the books (there’s a mental picture for you – and even if I didn’t urge them to ‘work it’ I probably DID beg them to STAY UPRIGHT in their various positions!).

I used the gravel roads and granite rocks and blue skies available from our front paddocks for these…

Got down and dirty in the red dirt…

And it wasn’t a particularly LEVEL road, let me tell you (must have a word to the grader driver… DAD!)

I admit it was kinda fun – although I WAS hoping no-one would visit me mid-shoot.  Lying in the middle of the road talking to a paperback might have come across a bit wrong…

Anyway, Fleur and her publicist apparently thought the pics were okay, and used some.

Rock on over to Fleur spanking new site to check out the images and take part in the great contests (something about mystery images I believe) – there are goodies to be won!

Her blog (which you can find through her site) is always entertaining (how she fits blogging in with writing novels AND helping run a farm, let alone being a Mum and wife, astounds me).  She also has a fabulous section for the Australian Year of the Farmer – showcasing 52 farmers in 52 weeks.  You will meet an amazing array of primary producers there… the first chick featured looks like a particularly wild bit of work!

See you there.

😉
