A week, a break, a lifetime… a flood

What a week.

Honestly, there are no words to describe this week fully.  I have none.

Well okay, I have a few, but they are so jumbled in my head, so very much has happened, that I hardly know where to begin. If you follow me on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram you might have a clue what this week has been about.

So I will post up a little series today, each set of events in their own post.

The overview goes as such:

We left Granite Glen for a short four-day break away
swim
Two days at the beach in Hervey Bay and two days for appointments and a concert in Brisbane.

We were due to come home Sunday.  In time for school to begin on Tuesday.

While we were away all hell broke loose at home.  A couple of days’ predicted wet weather turned into an epic weather event.

Then we were stranded – over 500km from home.

So  we booked in one more night, two more nights.

We tried to enjoy our ‘extra holiday’ …
room
and then (inevitably) we went a little crazy.

So we packed up, buckled up. turned detective and found a way home.

Now we are surveying our flooded property and counting our blessings that we were so very lucky when so many have been devastated.

So many incredible stories of bad luck, good luck, near misses and enormous bodies of moving, muddy water.  Stories of courage and fortitude and generosity and selflessness.

So while I get organised into so sort of clarity for some of this saga, I want you to all pause and raise your glasses to Queensland.  It’s people, both in the city and the bush, who are dealing with this disaster.

I salute you all.
