Wild Things – POLL #4

Have I mentioned how much I love this part of this blog? Where I get you guys to do what I find so hard – choosing images for my annual calendar (funny how calendars are annual!).

Today we are looking at some local wildlife – of the national emblem variety!  Depending on space, I am aiming to have one roo and one emu image in this edition.

You ready? Let’s introduce the contenders…

roos_8054 eROOS & ROCKS – shot duing the floods earlier this year, I was walking around the paddock to get shots of the river when I spotted this duo (trio actually) grazing on a rocky ridge.  As you can see, I was shooting between a couple of ironbarks, which helped me frame the shot and provide a little camoflague of my own!

RIVERSIDE ROOS – taken the same day as the image above, this mother and half-grown joey were enjoying some VERY green buffle grass beside our very swollen river.

FOGGY VISITORS COLOUR – A shot which readers loved back in June, but which I also love in black-and-white.

FOGGY VISITORS B&W – Taken on the road leading to our house after taking the kids to the schoolbus one morning in June.  (Spot the galah in the foreground!)

AFTERNOON ROOS – Warm afternoon light, a country road and peacefully grazing kangaroos. Does it get any more ‘bush’ than that?

STICKY BEAKS  – Some curious emus who came in reasonably close to check me out late one morning on a paddock drive.  Gotta love those ‘do’s’!

PIGEON PAIR* – Captured on the way into town one day, this pair seemed to be ‘floating’ along in the dry grass.  Adore how clear the colour and the amber eyes of these very strange birds are in this shot.

emus_1568 w eODD MAN OUT* – Taken the same morning as the one above, this shot appeals to my arty-farty side.  Love the three against the knob in the background, and the seperate emu at right. Lends itself to many great quotes about being independant or unique, I reckon…

Remember you can vote for your favourite THREE images from the above selection.  (It would be great if you could include at least one of each type of animal in your choice!)

(THIS POLL IS NOW CLOSED, THANKS FOR VOTING!)

*These two shots were taken last year but the scatter-brained photographer managed to lose the originals for about 6 months so she was unable to use them in the 2013 calendar. She reckons they are worth giving another shot to though!

NB Previous polls are still open if you haven’t already voted!
