My kinda people, people…

You know what I love about this blog, and it’s sidekicks, the BB Facebook page and the BB Twitter page?

I love the readers.

Sounds corny, I know. But I swear, I have the best gosh-darned readers ON. THE. PLANET.

You may not realise it, but the group gathered around you here is something else.  You come from the most incredibly diverse backgrounds – some of you are farmers, some are city slickers, some very young, some *ahem* more mature, quite a few blokes, plenty of chicks, some straight, some gay, some omnivores, some vegetarians… from all corners of this great globe, of different races, different colours, different creeds.

But inspite of this diversity, you bring one thing in common … your attitude. So ready to soak in my little offerings here, regardless of whether or not you fully understand them. Ready to ask a question and trust that I will answer it (to the best of my ability!).   And while I know a number of you are having tough times in your own lives, you arrive here open-minded and prepared to look through the lense with me and find a smile where I find one. Offer a word of sympathy when I need it, give me a giggle when the occasion offers itself, share the joy when we all need to.

You are just my kinda people…

In a world that thrives on the negative, you give me hope.  I swear.

(Does this sound like a country song yet? Heh.)

There are times, I admit, I have considered stealing back the hours of my week that this blog and my photography steal from me… but I do so love doing it all.

And while my visitors continue to enjoy the virtual window into my world, I think I should keep it open. It’s my therapy.

————————-

I have just been reading through the very sweet comments on recent blog posts and FB entries… from new arrivals and long-time visitors alike.

And I see a community.  One I only could have dreamed of seven years ago, when I had first moved back to the property I grew up on, from my stint in the city …

You have arrived through real life friends, through internet mates, through other incredible bush photographers and bloggers, through chance (and Google) and (just lately) via a brief TV appearance in our state (Queensland) yesterday*.  Some of you are people I am proud to know in real life. My family is part of this community too.

I am so very lucky, and (touch wood) have yet to experience any internet trolls at all.  I think the worst comment I’ve had was a spelling correction. (And I was quite happy to have someone do spellcheck for me!)  How incredible is that, over my seven years here on the WWWs?  Lotto worthy, I’d say.

Each time I see the numbers grow at the blog and on Twitter and Facebook, I am excited but admit I do worry that the dynamic will alter…

But it only ever seems to get better…

So when I offer a giveaway, to celebrate this virtual bush party I have going on….  well it just somehow seems LESS than the gifts I get every week from you guys.

(Was that the biggest lead-up to a prize announcement in the history of blogging?  Tee hee… sorry. The wait is OVER!)

My Wedgetail and Ironbark canvas was on offer this week, to celebrate my growing community.

That was really a kind gesture in giving a reader that photo. Not sure if it is my “new Pot Plant Mate” who is about to relocate to Savannah, Ga.
    Debby or Debbie???
Anyhow whichever Debby I am sure you will love Savannah, unfortunately 4 trips to Atlanta, but never got to Augusta or Savannah. Too much fun on stupid rapids!!!
Also never got to the famous “Miss Pitty Pat” restaurant in Atlanta, but did get to “The Abbey” – wow! A must to visit with a gold plated card, unfortunately.
I have been told that Savannah surpasses Charleston with the preserved pre-Civil War homes – the homes on the Charleston, Battery area are magnificent and driving around in a house drawn carriage pretending you are Rhett Butler, unfortunately no Scarlett to accompany me, was pure magic.
No bloody rain in sight here in Brisbane, damn.
