Drinks at Sunset

Sometimes life in the bush, on a farm, can be a little full-on.  Especially when it’s very dry, when cattle or crops are need a little more TLC than normal, when bottom lines are tighter, and when everyone can be a little more frazzled than usual…

It’s times like this that I reckon a little bit of ‘sunset therapy’ is most needed.

sunset_2095I try my best to get our menfolk to take a few minutes between arriving home from a long day, before having showers and dinner, to just sit on our deck.

Just sit and soak in a sunset.

Of course, they might not admit that’s what they are doing. They might say they are enjoying a well-earned cold one, and a yarn.

And (at least to their faces) I would agree.  sunset_2088

But still, the magic ingredient, the fleeting generic cialis cheap burst of beauty that punctuates day and night, is the sunset.

The real bonus it that it is free.  To us all.

A very cool thing indeed…

Of course, an icy wine glass (regardless of what it is filled with) and an adoring Great Dane are nice additions too.

What is your best therapy after a long day?

Please share in comments – who knows, you might give someone else a fabulous way to brighten their day!

🙂

Depends. I guess my favorite thing to do is to curl up in a toasty warm bed with a good book and read myself to sleep. Other times, I need to be with people. So I go take a walk and talk to people along the way. Always meet someone interesting. If I lived where you lived, well…I imagine that the kangaroos would be sick and tired of hearing me talk.

Ah, we are after some sunset therapy at the moment. Although not as drought riddled as you further north, the dry is nipping at our heels. Today I felt like a Red Cross aid worker, delivering food and water to the needy. One cow I have been carting water to for nearly two weeks, loaded with sugar and electrolytes; and she just may have turned the corner – that is a very satisfying form of therapy for me.

Beautiful photos. Sunset is my favourite time of day, and I too love sitting on a verandah watching the glow. I like the term “sunset therapy” – I may steal that one 🙂

The wineglass adds such character to those last two shots (and Axel, of course). Somehow I don’t think my bottle of beer would have the same effect…well, maybe in a pilsner or pint glass.

My best “therapy” is a good jigsaw puzzle! I can lose myself for hours that way.

Holding that baby and watching him sleep in my arms does it for me this year; it has been the most joyous experience, calming, soothing, peaceful.

When we will offshore in Key West the sunrise and the sunset were the absolute best times of the day and the most colorful. Pinatubo volcano erupted in the Philippines and our sunsets were blood red for months afterward. Unusual and unseen before or since. I love sunsets and Great Danes.

Amanda, any idea why comment luv declines to put up my most recent post on my blog? It used to work fine and now it’s not functioning. You have figured this blogging out so competently, perhaps you have the answer to my little conundrum as well…
