Holly’s gift…

It’s 1 am and we have just been out to check on Holly.

You see at 4.20pm today, as we were preparing to attend our kids’ Christmas concert, she gave birth to this little darlin’…

This photo was taken about 10 minutes after she arrived into the world.  It was also taken with the photographer looking quite a sight – hair colour in and mid-processing!

She is utterly gorgeous and we are all completely in love…

This was taken a couple of minutes later.  And within half an hour, she was UP.  At that stage I had raced back to the house, rinsed, blow-dried and was almost ready to go!

We zoomed off to attend our kids’ annual Christmas concert – a wonderful night which I shall blog soon – and came home around 10.30pm to find our little filly suckling nicely.

However Holly still has some afterbirth, and we are watching her.  As an older Mum, retained placenta’s are apparently not unusual – we have done what we can tonight.  The morning will tell whether a call to the vet is in order.

Does the excitement (and drama) never end here?

Of course there are many more pics to share, but for now, I need a little sleep.

🙂
