The fisherman…

Our son – despite living the vast majority of his short life in the Aussie bush hours from the nearest coast – is a fisherman.

Not just a river-bank kinda fisherman.

A mad-keen, wide-open-sea kinda fisherman…

And when asked what he wanted for his birthday recently, his reply (as it has so often been) was for an ocean fishing trip.

And despite MANY false starts (usually called off by cyclones rudely interrupting our plans) THIS time we pulled it off.  After a 4.15am get-up (that‘s how much we love this child) and a 5am meet-up at the ramp (apparently no-one has actually been early for this rendezvous… before us) our boy got to have a little birthday fun…

My husband  joined Dash on his adventure… I’d like to say there was simply no room for me, but to be honest, I am a bit of a ‘land lubber’.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERADash and his Dad, however… HAD. A. BLAST.

Tri, the guy who took them on their trip, was pretty impressed with our first-born’s skills.

He nicknamed my husband ‘The Unit’ (cause he’s kinda a big boy) and our son ‘The Gem’.

Didn’t matter how hard those fish pulled, Dash was using every skill picked up from his HOURS of fish-related DVD and TV program watching (which he’d like to think of as ‘research’).  Mr I was quite sure he was going to go overboard a number of times but he managed to land a number of queen fish unassisted…

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAHow is THAT for a grin?

‘The Unit’ didn’t miss out altogether… I think he enjoyed it more than he let on, actually!

But the young fella (who turned 12 the day these photos viagra online generic were taken) was the star of the day.

We did bring one fish home (a smaller fish) but the rest were released.  And Dash slept VERY well that night.

😉

Q: Are you a fisher-person?

Q: The river kind or the ocean variety?

*Many thanks for Frazer Coast Fishing for the experience and the photos. 🙂

It sure looks like they had fun! For me, I don’t fish often, but I have fished for catfish now and then. Hubby prefers catching bass or the other, more jumpy types, (I think he lacks patience–always casting and reeling…) but even he prefers catfish when it’s something we’re going to take home and eat. He hates dealing with scales. 😉

I love to eat fish, but I don’t like to fish. Tim likes to fish, but rarely takes the time to do so, because he keeps himself pretty busy. I got him fly fishing lessons for his birthday. I’m hoping that he’ll slow down.

I’ve seen Mr. I’s shirt before.

I’m the opposite of Debby. I love to fish, but don’t like to eat it. (Except the occasional fried catfish or canned tuna). I’m not an ocean person and prefer to fish exclusively on our pond.

Belated birthday wishes to Dash and well done on the catch by your men!

I like to fish lakes since we have a cottage on a lake and my DH insists that I like to fish, LOL! I am so glad that Dash had a wonderful time fishing. He is a great guy!

My best ever fishing trip was at Straddie. I walked down a street – there was a guy washing down his boat with a bucket full of freshly gutted fish – I asked him how fishing had been and he gave me four to take home.

That is MY kind of fishing.
