The Bush

Ploughing to the horizon

We have gorgeous sunsets out here.

They don’t last long – the sun literally plunges from the sky.

But for a few moments, minutes if you are lucky, Mother Nature lets it rip.

I should have been cooking dinner for my crew.
Instead I was racing around the house with my camera.
The sky was on fire.

Downloading the images, I notices something really weird.
Photos I had taken earlier that day, of something utterly different, looked uncannily similar.
What do you reckon?

Art of the sky and of the earth…

May the sky be on fire in your corner of the world.

At least for a moment.

Oh beautiful sunset shot! I can see the resemblance.

Was that on Sunday? We had a brilliant sunset then, and I wished for your camera (and probably you clicking). The problem with automatic is that it sort of blurs great colours out due to lighting.

When you have a moment like this, it is only right that you stop cooking and start snapping. Very, very nice pictures.

Jeanie – try the auto anyway… you might be surprised. Just do a few pointing at and then gradually away from sun, and see what works best. Never underestimate the value of a little snappy camera!

Alison and Debby – ain;t Mother Nature grand. I just aim to capture a small part of her work. Sometimes I get there, sometimes I don’t. But I sure as hey have fun trying!!

That is a brilliant sunset -awesome – I would link it to Wordless Wednesday.
Amazing photography of an amazing sky.
    Colours so rich too.
    Glad you had fun.

Oooh, now that was worth a trip over to look! Gorgeous. How cool was that earlier photo with the swirls and then that sky?

We have some spectacular sunsets at our cottage on the lake. Come summer, I hope to snap a few. And now that I have a better camera and a tripod, I might even catch the Northern Lights on film.

Great pictures! Fun echoing of earth and sky! Sunsets and sunrises just DO something to me! Awesome grandure of natures.

Lord I love your blog. I cannot wait for summer to turn up here in the northern hemisphere so maybe I can see some of those skies instead of the drippy grey ones were having here in New York. ~sigh~

If I knew HOW to link to Wordless Wednesday, I probably would… but I am clueless about such things (anything remotely tricky about this blog is courtesy of Jeanie!). Hint, hint. Feel free to advise me, feel freer to do it for me!!

I don’t know if I have mentioned this before, but it tickles me every time I get a comment. And it tickles me extra when I get a comment from somewhere OVERSEAS… like Canada or New York (both of which I am detirmined to visit) or Birmingham or Ennis or Oklahoma (been near these places but not actually THERE). It’t amazing to me and it thrills me. I’m quite easily thrilled of course… it’s why I wasn’t tough enough to be a political journo, and why a sunset does it for me every time!! So keep commenting, cause I love hearing from y’all!

    Hugs

BB, I feel the same way! Australia just seems so exotic and other-worldly to me. I love hearing from people all over the world too.

I linked your post about the teddy bear and Dash on my blog today. IT’s such a lovely, moving story. So be prepared for a few more people to drop by.

Definitely come visit! I’m not in NYC but I’m close and the Adirodack mountains are magnificient. (Just be sure it’s summer if you’d like to go out. I love to look at the snow through a window with a fire and a glass of wine.)

Gorgeous photos! That is strange how the pattern in the field is repeated in the sky. We have lovely sunsets here, too, but you have to both be ready and not be too impatient. Just when you think the show is pretty much over, the real color comes out. It’s also the shortest part of the whole light show.
