The wheel of fun (AKA time to buy my son new shorts!)
Isn’t it amazing how the simplest things can catch your imagination?
Especially when you are a kid…

While SSB was busy chainsawing a log off a fence at the hayshed the other day, our offspring decided to amuse themselves in the yards. They discovered a hay ring – a circular steel barrier placed around big round bales of hay. Dash was intrigued.

Hmmm. What can this thing do?

Holding steady… not rolling… another step.

Wonder what’ll happen if I go just a little higher?
Hang on… this thing is moving!
Yi-i-i-i-i-i-i-k-e-s-s-s-s…

W-h-e-e-e-e!!
How did that happen? I’m on the other side. Just keep looking down. Focus. Need to get down…
Oh. Oh. OK? OK. I’m OK. I’m alright. I’m down.

…
Where’s Dad? I wanna show him my new trick. (Hitch…).

Mum, STOP LAUGHING!

Kids are incredible! So fun to watch. So brave and carefree–except for a little hitching of the pants now and then!

Oh the pleasures of growing up in the country! Too cute:o)

Cutest little hamster on a wheel I ever saw!

Hey girls… Dash does the pants-hitch regardless of whether the shorts are too big or not. It’s one of his mannerisms. I would happily give up the entertainment value of the Hitch though, to see him develop a butt. It’s my dream for him. The little hamster!

LOL!
That photo story was just gorgeous. Has Dash seen the German Wheel at a circus before? They are awesome.

Aha! A new diversion for the kids when school is not in session! Thanks for the great idea!

A word of caution to those wishing to emulate the activities of the Great Hamster Wheel of Granite Glen: Dash weighs just 19kg. Gravity and Dash are not well aquainted… a bigger kid could literally end up like a hamster!! As long as they kept running… try this one at your own risk (and don’t forget to post about it!).

He’s a ladies man!!!
Charlotte, my four year old daughter walked by while I had your blog up (wanted to see how the wedding went) and said “Oh, he’s ADOOOORABLE!” By the time my 8 yr old girl got in the room I had scrolled down to the horse picture and she said, “Yeah, he IS beautiful.” We’ll work out the preunps later 🙂
