Sight of the Day!
I have to admit something: I’m not so much a ‘morning person’.
It takes about two good coffees to get me kick-started before breakfast.
Of course, I live on a cattle property and have young children, so the chances of sleeping in past 7am are pretty slim. So I haul my body from the sheets by 6.30am most mornings and head straight for the Moccona jar. My family knows me well enough to work me wide til I ‘come to’ properly.
…
As I prised my eyelids open yesterday, two little voices called me from my semi-conscious-yet-upright state.
Hey Mum, we got a present for ya!
The voices were near the back steps.
I ambled to the doorway, to be confronted with this sight:
Have you ever seen two youngsters so pleased with themselves?
They had been down the yards ,while the men caught and saddled horses for mustering, and had decided to “help Mummy”. Dash found his little wheelbarrow, they scrounged a little shovel from the shed somewhere, and hit the stables.
And did a little ‘harvesting’.
Just for me.
Manure.
Fresh and whiffy and wonderfully wet!
It was like they had brought me the crown jewels.
Or a lobster dinner at the Hilton.
Would anyone like a side plate of cheese with that?

They know the true way to your heart is through the horse manure 😉

Kids are so full of surprises. Like my daughter’s not-quite-two little guy. It must be a theme . . . He “painted” himself and every thing in reach with a similar “gift” for his mom. She was still shaking her head when she called. The little fellow still smelled awful, even after a good dose of scrubbing in the shower! “Mom,” my daughter asked, “did any of us ever do that?”
Oh, yes. My dear. Oh, yes, in deed. Which (if not all) of you I currently fail to recall, but oh, yes. It happened.
Love you kids! They were so industrious and thoughtful. AND so happy to know they’d done such a good deed! Gotta love ’em!

Those are country children, for sure.

i love the accompanying cheesy game show host grins they’re giving you 😀
did you put the poo in the compost pile? that stuff is invaluable for enriching compost.

That is really funny! Maybe you should tell them to be careful in showing you their great talents, you might really put them to work! 😉

It’s wonderful that they have each other to do things like that with. They are adorable.

Kind of like that cat that bring the dead mouse and leaves it on the step to show you the accomplishment. Cute, but disgusting none the less!

I love the way Dash has his one foot crossed over the other and leanin’ on his little shovel.
Disgustingly cute, the both of them.
