Meltdowns and more excuses
I am not sure if you have noticed, but I have been a bit, er, distracted for the past couple of weeks. Sure, I am still coming down from my Christmas loaves-and-fishes effort, the whole back-to-school thing is all over me as usual, and the branding has really knocked the proverbial (and literal) stuffing out of moi, but something else has been worrying away at my creative juices as well.
Something evil.
Something chip-driven.
(If anyone said ‘my backside’, I’m not laughing!)
It’s my laptop.
(OK, this is Jeanie’s laptop fairly schmicko notebook, mine’s in the background! The one with the blank screen – illustrating my point entirely.)
The laptop which my husband often accused me of loving more than he, as it took up residence welded to my lap every evening post washing-up.
The laptop on which I fiddled with photos, whipped up a few words, and hurled spontaneous blog offerings together upon. Then foisted them on an unsuspecting world. (Well the few scattered souls who dared to peek into my blog anyway! Hello you lot.)
…
That laptop.
Which died a slow and tortuous death a couple of weeks ago.
Taking with it into computer heaven goodness knows how many photos (most backed up, some not) and… sob… my Photoshop.
Apparently I can live without Photoshop.
But not happily.
…
Yesterday the Gods smiled on me and I smiled a toothy Bush Babe grin back at ’em. Because with some judicious investment in the correct locations, much patience and my ever-loving tech-minded Mr Incredible’s skills as a computer technician, I came back to life.
New desktop.
New Vista.
New Photoshop CS3.
The blood is once again pumping through my veins.
And while you could say that I am driving this thing, I am still finding the gears, so to speak.
CS3 is divine, but a little out of control. And Vista. Don’t get me started!
I have tools. Will travel.
Or at least get your photo orders happening.
I Promise!
Now, if you are wondering what the heck any of these photos has to do with this post, I shall ‘splain. Just because you haven’t seen many up-to-date photos lately, doesn’t mean I haven’t been busy with my trusty Nikon.
Busy, baby!
So each of these pics has a story.
A story to be told in the next week or so.
Little quirky stories.
Which one would you like to hear first?
Anything grab you?

Oooh, sorry about the computer but glad you’re back to business. And yes, I can honestly I am looking forward to hearing the backstories of some of those photos. The two cute kids are adorable!

Yikes! I don’t know what I’d do if my computer kicked the bucket! I should probably get my pictures backed up on disk just incase. It appears I’m playing with fire. Glad you are back up and running! I have PhotoShop CS5 and it is definately a learning experience. Hope to hear more soon!

The one that grabbed me was your boy petting the calf or moving the cattle. I’m a sucker for horse stories and kids and critter stories. Glad your up and going again. I need to get a new computer, but I’m gonna’ wait until the next version after Vista if I can… too many horror stories for a non-techie.
Keep ’em moving, now.

What seems to be a “dough covered” small hand will be interesting, I’m sure! So sorry about the technical difficulties. They make a considerable dent in our psychological well being at times. Glad you’re surrounded by great helpers in Mr. I and Miss Jeanie. Oh, to be so blessed!
and “imish” to you from the WV!
Uh, oh! the computer dudes didn’t like “imish” so much so now, get this, the WV is “acting”. No doubt!

OK, I love the fact that the picture of the laptop shows the PW website. ha!
I’d really like to know about ‘the hand’! But they all look interesting.
Good luck finding your way around your new system — I’m sure you will love it once you find everything and figure out how it works.

It doesn’t matter which ‘yarn’ you tell, I’ll be curled up with my chin in my hand, reading it.

Glad you’re back up and running.
The not-backed-up pictures? Could they still be retrieved by one of those folks who specializes in recovering lost hard drive information?
One of our computers came with a Vista operating system. I hate it. From time to time it decides that it’s too good for the rest of the network (which are all XP comps) and refused to let the other computers see its files. Also, it occasionally it decides that it doesn’t like our dual view settings and refuses to recognize the television that it’s partnered with so the family can watch TV.

Just got my pc back after hiccups, and recovered the photos thank goodness, so I hear ya!
If you find Vista clunky, Windows 7 is supposed to be much better and is (officially)being released 2010, (unofficially) sometime 2009 😉

The boy with the bull…or whatever that is! Looks dangerous and he looks like he’s just there petting it! And I hear you on the Vista front, but once you get used to it, it’s not so bad. I just purchased CS4, and have no idea how to use it so I bought a book and am slowly navigating my way through all the cool things that program can do!! Yaaay!! I love playing with my photos in there but get frustrated since I can’t always figure out how to get it to do what I want!
