The Bush

Raindrops and red roads…

I adore rain.
Love it, love it, love it.
Even ensconced in the Big City, the sound of it humming down on the roof made me smile. Even decades after being officially ‘citified’ I would grin like Luna Park at every cloudburst.
There it washed the smog from the skies,
the petrol fumes from my nostrils,
the salt crust from the duco.
Here, it cleanses the air,
settles the dust,
revives the countryside…
and also it’s inhabitants.
It washes my soul clear of discontent.
It’s raining right now.
Fat drops, roar then patter.
Kids giggling inside, horses wheeling madly in the outide shower.
Energised by the dancing of the rain.
And I smile.
Of course, I also washed the car today for the first time in three weeks.
Red dust (that tell-tale bush brand) banished once more from my white vehicle.
I should have known better…
Because you know that equation?
White car + Rain + Red roads =
This.
Still. Smiling.
*sigh*

I know about the red dirt. That’s why I drive a red pickup. I’ve seen white cars driving around out here and they look a lot like yours.

But I do love the smell of spring rain.

I love nothing more than drifting off to sleep with the sound of the rain on our tin roof.
We haven’t got the red dirt – but we do have the yellowy, grey, sandy, dusty stick to everything outside and settle inside the car too, kind of dust – we also have a dark blue car – not a good combination!!!
    Hope you all are good!

Ahhh, yes, the sound of rain! I love it – and we’ve had a lot of it here in Atlanta this week. Needed it, though. I hope they got plenty in the burned areas of Australia…

It was nice to read a post by someone who likes rain. 😉 We get so much of it around here….it’s not so welcome, especially by this time of the year, we are really craving some sunshine! Once in a while, it does give you the excuse to hunker down with a good book and be lazy, though!

I’m with Gem. I like to drift off to sleep to the sound of rain. We don’t have a tin roof, but still…

And if I’m laying in the dark listening to rain with thunder and lightning…so much the better!

Could just pretend that it’s a new paint style. Just leave it on. Like duct tape, it’ll just hold stuff together.
