The Scooby Doo Factor

You know how we have a Great Dane puppy?
And you know how puppies
– when they are little –
can be a little nervous of things BIGGER than themselves?
And you know how BIG Great Danes can get?
Like bigger than a cat or normal dogs or even some calves?
We are talking GIANT here people… our beloved Coz weighed 75kg!
Well, wouldn’t you think that a dog already weighing over 30kg
who could (in theory) be considered a ‘hunting dog’
might somehow take advantage of his own
impending enormousness?
And not simply RUN AWAY when confronted with
any animal
OF ANY SIZE
that might look sideways at it?

No?

Yep. The headline should read:

“5kg cat Lords it over 35kg canine.”

The ridiculous dog fails to take any notice of me,

but if Middy so much as raises her almight black hackles,

Axel freezes, whimpers and cowers until she stalks off.

I like to call it The Scooby Doo factor.

I wonder if it will wear off when he hits 60kg?

"Rut-ro Shaggy!!" He is so darling. I've heard that Danes are usually big softies and i'm guessing he will always be afraid of that cat 🙂 I can't get over how huge his feet are! It's amazing he can even walk!

Look at Axel's sad puppy dog eyes! It is so funny how an animal so large can be scared of an animal so small!

What?!!!! You have a great Dane puppy?!!! I hadn't heard!

I like Middy's spirit, but I think that there will come a point when Axel's courage reaches, oh, I don't know…the size of his FEET maybe, and it will be Middy's turn to quiver. Just a little.

Di could have told you that her 40 lb. (I don't know how to convert!) hound backed up against her human daddy for protection when my 9 lb cat hissed and ran at her!! And last week Emma, now 10 lbs, stood down my sister's very large Greater Swiss Mtn Dog. Axel is adorable, but cats rule.

Your Coz is a Boston, just like my Jazz was.

She was such a good girl. She too seemed timid at times.

She was not, however, at all afraid of anything when it came to protecting her boy ( who happened to be my young son). That dog truly loved children and would let no harm come to any of them.
She died at 10 years a few years ago, she is still missed 🙂

The dog I have now is a Labrador….she's just a friendly goof, afraid of nothing, but too gentle to hurt anything either. Her bestest buddy was my sons Belgium bunny…not realy a good trait for a hunting dog, but it's fine by me 🙂
