Insult to injury

Well I have to say that starting up a new self-hosted blog using a completely new blog editor is kinda like riding a green horse.  You never know which way it’s gonna turn next, or what obstacle you are about to be unceremoniously thrown upon.  (And yes, I am the Aussie version of Forrest Gump.  Except I can’t run. *sigh*)

The latest prickle patch I find myself in today is my much-loathed Internet connection.  My satellite ‘broadband’ and I actually have a love-hate relationship – I’d love it to work properly, and it hates to go anywhere near that particular pie-in-the-sky wish.  I have now exceeded my download limit by 1000 MB.  (Apparently that is likely to happen when one shifts an ENTIRE BLOG somewhere).  So basically I am not game to move a muscle in case the whole thing implodes (or the provider sends me a bill for $1000).  And I am not game to upload anything much at all.  I am going to delicately try and paste an image here from my Flickr account (moving across doesn’t count as upload/download in provider speak, does it?  See how Gump-ish I am?).

Sharing another couple of possible Pioneer Woman Landscapes entries… both from the same location.

The first one is from this post here
mycountry_0188 hue&paint
…where we debated the different actions I could use.  I think this version was the winner?

The second is just of the water and sky at the same place taken way back when

billabong reflection

I love this photo – lush, lovely, utterly peaceful… but then I was there when it was taken so I am a bit biased.

I have taken on board all suggestions from this post too – will keep you posted as either:

  1. I manage to miraculously make any shortlists at Ree’s place (have you SEEN the incredible images there?)
  2. My computer/satelite dish/bank account explodes from the effort of this post (in a final straw/camel’s back kinda way).

*covers ears, peers out from under desk…*

🙂

I am wondering what happens when people comment – will it wreck the balance of your universe?

I love both shots – the first one the sky is gorgeous – the mare’s tails lifts it from a brilliant shot into the realm of the fantastic.

The second I find far more reflective (oh, I am so witty).

I am Forrest Gump’s right pinky when it comes to computer/blog download limits. I don’t even know what download limit is, and certainly wouldn’t know what to do if I reached it.
That first photo is amazing! I think the red dirt road makes the difference–contrast in colors.

I don’t think Americans HAVE the same limits with their internet that we do – satelite is especially limited with its speed and download restrictions… but as Kelly pointed out, it’s better (marginally) than dial-up connection!

I like the brilliance of the colors in the first shot, but the reflections in the second really won me over.

I tried to move my first blog (yahoo360) over to wordpress awhile back, and it was just too much for my satellite internet connection. I still have the info available in case I can ever upgrade to cable or DSL. (which I doubt considering I live in the sticks. I’m just thankful for satellite rather than dial-up!!)

Yep! I love them both. I love your red roads, so any photos with a red road catch my eye. I also like the reflections in the second one.

I hope the Wicked Download Witch doesn’t mess things up for you!!

Oh I so can’t decide what I like better , but sometimes I do like the whole scroll down bit from the old blog rather than click to get into it.

BUt I do it to read your blog anyway! Hope things clear up in the trouble shoting area for you and it runs smoother as you go on!

LOVE the reflections in the first one!

Gosh. I’m glad that I don’t know what I’m doing…otherwise I’d probably be under my own desk with my hands over my own ears. Ignorance is bliss…

Hey there, I’ve been a sleep the last few days and am just catching up with the new site. Fantastic! My only issue, I felt I was horse wrangling as I waited for the piece I wanted to comment on to come back around :-)! My site updated to reflect your new site and well done – very prof. C

I’m going to go with everyone else & say the TOP one. It’s the red dirt road that does it for me. Sooooo Aussie!
Yeah, here in the US I don’t have a download limit
But I know all about it when I’m touring
I use a prepaid dongle – where 3 or 4 photo heavy blogs will chew up $20
Or there’s the hotel internet, which is sometimes free
But when it’s not? Oh boy!
Then I turn to the mini bar for comfort and check out the next day BANKRUPT!
