Slow and Sepia
Because my internet connection has almost COMPLETELY ground to a halt (thanks to our special hybrid broadband/pigeon carrier out here in the bush) ….
And also because it’s after 11pm, and the bags under my eyes are turning into a luggage stack Paris Hilton would be proud of…
And also because I am mentally stuffed after a facts-and-figures kinda day, and I’m therefore feeling a little less colourful than normal…
And… well, let’s just share and shut up, shall I?
*-*-*-*-*
Two shots taken recently that I had played around with briefly but haven’t shared before.
First, some young bulls heading back to the paddock after being worked at the yards.
And, a shot taken within a couple of minutes of the one above…
A self portrait! (Something you don’t see here every day.)
Dunno. I think I like it.
Opinions?

I always enjoy creative self portraits. I’ve been discovering how hard it is to take your own photo with a DSLR without using a timer. It’s not like turning the little point and shoot around and snapping one of those quick, silly images my girls are so fond of taking.
The first photo is absolutely calendar-worthy. Gorgeous shot!

Oh Jenni – you’ve reminded me… time to sort that calendar out!!!
Designing is underway – almost whittled down the images – if anyone has a fave, pls let me know and I’ll see if I can include it.

“worked at the yards” – the bulls definitely look like a bunch of tired young men heading home after a day working at the shipyards!!! Guess you’d better tell this non-ranching Yank what that means?
Bush Babe
Heh – sorry. ‘Worked’ can mean anything really – in this case, we had a buyer coming so we drafted up the bulls into their colour and registration levels for the buyers inspection. Other times we might innoculate them, or sort them out to move some into other paddocks. Loved the shipyards image!!! Some louts who could totally be wharfies in their midst.

Wow, those shots could have been taken in the middle South Dakota. Who knew that a picture of the bush would make me homesick for the farm!?!
Love the photos, they are great!

The Windmills of Your Mind. What is it about windmills? I’ve made DH stop on a four-lane freeway in the middle of Kansas so I could wander through the field and take windmill pics. Even better that hay bales.
I really like the sepia. Is it a PW Action? I downloaded her collection and love them. Hope you got a good night’s rest.

These are both great!! The cows look especially nice without color.
Rarely see a windmill in south Arkansas…. oil derricks, but no windmills.

Love both those shots, yep they both belong on your calendar.
If you put the main pic (the bulls) on the upper page of the calendar then a smaller thumbnail pic (your self portrait) just above the days of the month on the lower page, would match together perfectly!

You look skinny in the slef portrait (noted the typo but thought you would appreciate).
Who would take photos of old windmills anyway?
The bulls look great – and very quiet, looking at the relaxed fence they walk beside (who is her father’s daughter)

I’m pretty partial to sepias and black and whites, so I’m really loving that first shot. Totally awesome. 🙂
