Winny
Because I am random and unorganised and ‘arty’ (now isn’t that a useful excuse for chaos?) I keep forgetting to introduce you all to the new members of our ever-growing ‘family’ here at Granite Glen. So tonight, after lots of behind-the-scenes action (some of which I hope to blog about soon) I am belatedly sharing a special ‘person’ who joined our ranks a few months ago.
And when I say ‘person’ you know I really mean ‘animal’.
Readers, meet Winchester.
Winchester was named by me, as his official name is ‘410’ – and while we are happy calling our cows by their alloted numbers, it’s kinda hard to sing out ‘Walk up, Four One Oh!‘ to one’s steed.
Winny (whom I nicknamed… why yes, I am Australian, why do you ask?) is a real character. He’s extremely quiet and seems to think he’s half-human. Or at least a great, furry pet.
He’s super tall (almost 17 hands) but a total marshmallow.
Which means he’s a bit of a sook (for my overseas readers, ‘sook’ means kind of a touchy-feely cry-baby. Or marshmallow.)
And among his little quirks is that he responds NOT so much to the bit (you know, that device connected to the reins which normally allows a rider to control a horse) as to he does to VOICE signals. Basically, he and Mr Incredible speak different languages. And there is not an interpreter in sight…
Luckily, we have a foreign horsey lady living right next door, who speaks ‘freaky tall horse who doesn’t like bits‘. How lucky was that? He’s snuggling up to her these days, although we go to visit for our Winny cuddles on occasion. And we can still ride him whenever we like. It’s a win-win.
I’m sorry, but I just feel like a fraud… can you tell how long ago these photos were taken?
And the leaves on that Liquid Amber tree (in the corner of these pics) are now COMPLETELY GONE!
I’m slack.
I know.
But Winny still loves me.
Thank goodness for the marshmallows in my life.

What a beautiful animal! I love his colouring.

Oh, now I’m all goooshy inside. Almost teary over your beautiful friend. What legs and socks! And eyes.
I don’t blame you for posting only nine of the pics you shot. If I had to choose from all those beauties I’d go for eight, but love the fun mirror shot with the sniffy soft nose too.
Being “arty” is the best excuse for being unorganized. Anyway the green matches the northern hemisphere nicely.

He’s beautiful! The name is just perfect, too. One of these days I’m going to post again, and one post that is waiting is about our forgotten litter of kitties. (I already blogged about the first litter.) They finally got names last week, so I should be able to blog about them, right? Well, maybe.

So, Leenie’s a sook too, right? LOL! Beautiful animal, intelligent face. Glad for the neighbor who speaks fluent ‘tall horse, no bit’. I love it.

You HAD to put that mirror shot in – what she failed to mention is that Winchester THOROUGHLY vets all visitors and their vehicles!! He is a HUGE softie – great for a hug.
