World Winter Watch
…Yes, I am aware it’s supposed to be WORLD WEATHER WATCH… and I am aware I am supposed to do it on the WEEKEND, cause some doofus liked the alliteration opportunities! But it’s Monday, August 2 and here I am. I was busy with emus and new headers and other non-bloggy stuff in the 48 hours that actually COUNT as a weekend. Sorry. You will have to sack me!
I actually made the fatal error of attempting to tweet the WWW last night (laziness is no good unless it is thoroughly carried out!). And this was a silly thing to do because: A) I boasted how unseasonally warm it was for winter here; and B) assumed someone would actually respond. So naturally, today has been quite frigid, and I got one sole response to my weather call-out. (Thanks BTW Stephanie @LuvsChrome – you OK girls rock!).
So tonight I bring you the ‘proper’ weather watch from Granite Glen – which, I have to say, is awfully nippy tonight. I fear a frost or two may be in the offing this week actually. Because I made the (other) fatal error of planting some vegie and flower seedlings out this week – talk about getting ahead of oneself!
But look… you can see how that might happen.
(I think this is an aloe vera plant flower?)
And if it’s warm enough for stuff to flower, and it’s warm enough for babies to start arriving…
(Hello little new batch of pigeons!)
(Hello little baby rats!)
…that means its warm enough to plant, no?
*sigh*
I so suck as a gardener.
And as a weather forecaster.
I’m strickly an observer. And victim.
Just LOOK at those minimums diving downward…
Now see how things looked in the lead-up to today…
LOOK! It was almost 16 degrees MINIMUM yesterday morning people… bloody balmy!
But as we prepare to head to the Ekka, Mother Nature turns nasty. The cow. So it’s beanies for us, and beanies for the tomato plants (in our absence!).
Wish us all luck!

BB you know I would have replied if I had been anywhere near able to Tweet!
Here’s out weather for the coming week:
Mon: 13 – 27
Tues: 11 – 24
Wed: 11 – 27
Thurs: 10 – 24
Fri: 5 – 26
Sat: 7 – 27
I am not going to jinx it by saying how weirdly warm it is for this time of year.
Damn.
Did I say that out loud?

I’ve been watching bees doing their thing, birds nesting and feeding young, flowers in bloom (more noticeable in Central Victoria)so Spring is here!
Spring actually travels from the south to the north, going faster uphill and at the rate of 1/3 of a mile per hour.

BB dear, um, I hate to tell you this but the temps displayed above, well those are our summer temps!! If it ever got up to 25 – 30 degrees Celcius, we are all running around in our bikinis drinking beer 🙂
Bush Babe
Good lord… it’s NEVER bikini weather here (but that might not be because of temp ranges!). One thing to keep in mind (when I whinge, which is often) is that our homes here have very little insulation – they are built for letting breezes in. And it’s one NIPPY little breeze today, I can tell you!
🙂

LOL, Jayne.
Every time your seasons change it’s a shock. I realize anew that you’re on the opposite side of the world. Mostly, BB, it’s a shock because, well, if you’re headed into spring than we are headed into autumn. *sigh*

Nancy in Iowa
It’s not bad here right now in the SE corner of Iowa – 77F, but is expected to rise to 88F this afternoon with a heat index of 100. I’d rather be with you! Our latest rash of T-storms began about 3 this morning, and we can expect some every evening. I look out my windows at the cornfield across the road and expect the stalks to creep toward my apt. every night!!! Spooky!

Debby may be heading in to autumn, but we are hanging on to summer as long, long, long as possible. Wringing every blue sky out of the weather. But I don’t blame you for getting excited about spring and new planting and the growth of those “baby rats.” Hope their mommy will let you get some cutie photos soon to show us all.

The brass monkeys are back over here – brrrrr. When we got up, according to BOM it was 6.7 degrees!!!
I knew some blokes in Melbourne who, when discussing gardening, advised the best time to plant was when the ground was warm enough to sit on it bare-cheeked for 5 minutes.
Did you try that?

Ah… did the commenter whose last blog was called ‘Going Commando’ just talk about sitting on bare earth, bare-assed?? People really are going to get the wrong idea about you, dear sister!!
BTW – No.

Let’s see….we’ve been 102F the past two days here in south Arkansas and the forecast is for 104F tomorrow. That’s humid wet heat, too!!
That flower is quite lovely. I’ve had lots of aloe plants over the years, but I’ve never had one bloom. Interesting!
