Traffic Stopper
A quickie tonight…
Driving home from taking the kids to tennis lessons this afternoon and noticed a four-wheel-drive parked in the middle of the road, with lots of little hands all pointing madly out the window. Another school Mum rolled down her window and shouted:
GET YOUR CAMERA!
(People always seem to think I magically have my camera with me everywhere I go… can’t think why?)
An-y-way… I did.
He was sneaking off the road by the time I got close…
GO – ANNA!
(Yeah. Sorry).

Just how big is that boy? I love lizards, but don’t really want them big enough to eat my cat. 🙂

How do you like your goanna? Medium? Well done?
That bad boy would stop traffic ANYWHERE. So glad you always have the camera. Maybe an image for the 2012 calendar?

I dunno – I heart my goanna pics but not everyone gets all warm and fuzzy over giant reptiles… go figure!

Wow! That looks like a big one! (like I know what I’m talking about. Ha! I really haven’t a clue.)

What a great find. I haven’t seen a goanna for many years. They used to be so common in the bush when I was a kid. One chased our dog one day.

I just drove home from town in blowing snow, in the dark. It’s getting nasty out there! But? I’ll take the blowing snow across my road any day over that creature!! Wow! Ew… I’m not a reptile kind of girl. 🙁

Okay, that comment doesn’t make sense if you look at the time stamp on it… 2:28 pm? That must be Aussie time… it’s 10:33 P.M. here!
Bush Babe
Yup – we are almost a day ahead!

Like others before me: just how huge is that reptilian monster? He could be your poster boy, eh?

Are these called goannas because when you tell people you have these things living nearby, they say, “go on with ya” and that’s how the name evolved?
Maybe I could borrow one. I’m thinking it would take care of my grey squirrel problem.

They like rotting meat – so as long as you killed the squirrel for them, they’d take care of the carcasses. (Hope you are not having breakfast!)

Love! I think they are so cool and beautiful in their own lizardy way. I’ve loved goannas every since Joanna the Goanna from Rescuers Down Under 🙂

Never seen a photo of one before, only saw Joanna in a Disney movie. Wow!
