Weather, winter, wishful…
It’s World Weather Watch time, peeps!
(You know it took me forever to get that peeps was a term of affection for ‘people’ rather than something derogatory.)
Want to see what the morning looked like at Granite Glen?
Hmmm….?
Okay, you twisted my arm!

This is the Liquid Amber I took photos of the other day, when I somewhat wishfully imagined it was only AUTUMN.
Mother Nature begs to differ. She says:
It’s bloody winter, woman! Get used to it!
Or sentiments to that effect.
Last Thursday was a shock to the system, the the thermometre not getting above 10 degrees (Celsius, 50 degrees F). With a very nippy wind…
Fogs like this mornings provide a little hope that a sunny clear day will follow. And indeed as I type this the temperature has reached 18 C (64F). Positively balmy.
We are expecting maximums through this week of around 19C and minimums of between 2C and 5C.
With moderate frost risks for the weekend. Yay.
And before you say: ‘Here in Canada/Minnesota/Pennsylvania that is a summer day!’ I need to point out that Queensland bush houses are usually not insulated and have extremely inefficient fireplaces. Designed for hot weather, not cold. Just like me!
So being the softy that I am, I will be spending the week just like this young butcherbird…
Huddled. But with pink ugg boots.
Share your weather outlook for the week in comments.
I need to know that somebody is warm out there!
🙂

Plenty warm here for the next few days anyway; Northern California is known for her cold summers and we are doing that with the occasional heat wave tossed in to keep us on our toes.

Here in sunny Texas (extremely sunny) we are going on the sixth month of an extreme drought. Temp today was 103 and it is predicted to be in the 100’s for the rest of the week. I live on the South Plains witch is 380 miles to San Antonio and about 450 miles to Houston, so I can’t speak for the rest of the state. But when the wind blows and it is this hot, it feels like a blast furnace. I still prefer it to winter. I don’t do cold.
Bush Babe
Oh no… I don’t like droughts. And we KNOW droughts down here. Not fun. Wishing you some wet stuff. (Without that spinny, tornadoey stuff).

Witch? Sorry I meant which.

Haha You are funny I would never complain because it is cold here which it is, it has rained for two days and we are supposed to be cutting and baling hay.
I know you don’t have insulation and I hope it warms up for you soon.Global warming seems to be a myth around here and I guess over there.
Keep warm and I am huddled too. B

Well, it’s still chilly here, believe it or not. In the 60s for the last couple days. At night, it dips into the 40s.
I firmly believe that if your little bush house is uninsulated, this means that you must insulate yourself. Have another tim-tam.

Oh, and the peeps thing? I got that when I read it at the top of your blog. I suppose that this is more evidence that I am not cool. What? It’s no longer cool to say that people/places/things are cool?
Sigh.
I’ll never get it.

Pink Uggs! That’s a great way to fight off the chill.

Lots of rain and cool temps in the valley of the great Ohio River, USA. Crops and hay? Well, it’s just not happening much.

Well, here in South Arkansas it’s nice and sunny and warm. Our predicted high for today is only 98F (37C). I say “only” because I know a lot of folks have it worse! Of course by the time you factor in that humidity…..
Hey, I’m not complaining. I’ll take it over the cold any day in the week. A little rain would be nice, though. (again, not complaining…see above reference to other folks)

It’s going up to 28C tomorrow and sunny, whoo hoo! Dock is going in at the lake on Saturday and since the water was a balmy 68F (I still measure the water temp in F. for some reason) last weekend, I may even go swimming. If you want to warm up, I say come to Montreal!
You can get even with me in about six months.

Here in Southwestern Ontario, your weather for today matches our weather for today. Only, it’s summer here. 🙁 I want to live where you live. ‘Cause despite being Canadian, I HATE the cold. And this so-called summer of ours is not summer at all. And it’s only 3 months till the snow comes back. And that whole comment sounds extremely (I want to say the “B” word) complain-y. But I’m not. Not really. I would just like to not have to wear a sweater at night, and I would like to stop having to have a heat lamp on for my chickens. It’s supposed to be summer, after all.

Here in New Zealand…we’ve been hit with more earthquakes with the added bonus (not) of gigantic ash clouds compliments of a volcano eruption in Chile´
Luckily, our travels have kept us 2 to 3 days ahead of all the troubles.
These Kiwis are a resilient lot, I tell ya. Still incredibly hospitable, and coming to the shows in droves, with their laughing gear at the ready.
Your pics remind me of Autumn days growing up in Kalgoorlie.
But without any of the trees!

Here in Fargo, ND they are predicting to be in the 80’s this weekend! We cannot wait as it has been rainy and cold for us this Spring. I understand not wanting to be cold, I HATE winter here, it lasts about 9 months, or so it seems. Stay warm!
naomi
houses that are properly insulated will maintain their cool temperatures as well as their warmth. fireplaces, at the best of times are inefficient. wood stoves are fairly good though.
Theresa in Alberta
It is 15 degrees Celcius here 🙁 and this is supposed to be summer! It is overcast and gloomy, like it is going to pour down rain. sniffle

Here in the Houston area, winter’s not much of a problem. But the summer here seems to last 6 months! I think we have about 2 weeks of Spring and 2 weeks of autumn! I do complain about it, but I don’t think I could stand a really cold climate! 🙂
sara perkins
here in Maine it was a warm day 77 compared to the last few days in which we had to wear jackets or long sleeve shirts… this is supposed to be summer, but its okay with me cause i dont deal well with the heat dress in layers over there.. 🙂

I’ll say it: I envy you. You can come here, because it’s HOT! 100F. Love your fog pictures, however. (When don’t I love your pictures????!!!)
Enjoy your snuggle weather. It’s a good thing!

That orange tree looked like heaven. Fall is our favorite season, but it is 104 degrees today in Arkansas, in the southern US.

A little late as I’m catching up on my feed reader!
The weather here is also decidedly frosty! The max temps are hovering in the mid teens with single digits overnight. Rain and thunderstorms too! Remind me not to live in a Mediterranean climate in my next life! Rain AND cold?! I’d rather stay in bed thanks!
