Riding time…
A couple of slideshows of action from the weekend rodeo… cause I take TOO many photos, but these I thought were all worth sharing in their own special way.
Firstly a couple of my blurry bullride action shots – the light had dropped suddenly and my auto settings make the shutter speed really slow. I despaired of these pics when I viewed them on the camera preview, then have grown quite fond of while processing…
Sometimes the action is so frozen with a really fast shutter speed, you lose the impact of the furious movement. I kinda love these now!
Second is the set I talked about last post, with the bull rider who got into some trouble. Watch the clown (in the orange) closely – what this guy does is downright AMAZING.
The rider walked away. Which seemed nothing short of a miracle to me.
And lastly, our jackaroo Lachy.
He actually looked to have a really good ride, but tells me he thinks he touched down (where the ‘free arm’ touches any part of the rope or animal and disqualifies the rider) so took an ‘honourable dismount’.
Lachy was very annoyed with himself! I think it was a great ride.
But anyone who even ATTEMPTS this sport impresses me with their madness bravery.
My pick of the pics are these three…
Which set of shots are your faves?
I see my buddy Ree has been blogging rodeos on the other side of the world too – have YOU been to any good rodeos lately?
🙂

That Lachy is so thin I’m surprised the bull realized he was being ridden.

It must be rodeo weekend, I was just looking at Ree Drummond’s site and they are at a rodeo as well. Though I think the Marlboro man is doing more of a roping calfs than riding bulls. Looks like you all had a great time. I like the shot of Lachy on the white bull at the end best.

Years ago our community had a local rodeo every year. I loved the action until the bull riding. Then I would have to leave or go to the snack bar. Too much excitement for me.
