Calm before the storm
Life has been a bit crazy for me this week, with the annual branding underway.
I am not afraid to say that blogging is coming second to Just Getting Everything Done. Having two extra male teenagers in the house, along with my sister’s daughter Salina, is stretching my catering skills a little. The laundry being produced would curl your toes. My laundry is currently on our back landing, so this chore is proving challenging.
Plus I am out all day with the ‘gang’ processing all the calves. I am tired, exhausted actually, but enjoying it. It’s really my favourite (work) time of the year. I love meeting our cows, bulls and steers of the future.
It has been overcast and drizzling which is not ideal for branding but has made the work much less taxing physically. Mother Nature has been playing with us. We are hoping she saves the big rain til next week!
I should be packing lunches at the moment, but just wanted to quickly check in, assure you all that I still exist, and will be back in the Blog Saddle soon. (I was in a real saddle yesterday and will be paying for it tomorrow – I am not nearly as bendy as I need to be to ride!).
In the meantime a couple of the more serene pics from the past couple of days.
Gum blossom on a tree, taken as we followed the mob to the yards.
The ladies walking – I considered modesty stars but didn’t have time. Hope you coped with that view!
Dad’s dog ‘Spot’ who decided it was much too crowded in the truck – and the front of the ute looked much more comfy. Butter wouldn’t melt in this mouth, would it? Heh.
And finally, a rainbow from Monday. Over the road to our house.
I have so many stories, so many photos. Cows and calves, mullets and muck. Sounds like fun, no?
See you soon, my friends. (I’ll be the one hobbling like an old woman!)
🙂

You must have some pretty good feed at the moment looking at those tail ends. Talk about fresh! Am thinking that you may prefer being on horseback than foot so the snakeys can’t get you! If you’ve got the room, do yourself a huge favour and get another washing machine, even a second hand one, cuts down laundry time significantly! Let me assure you! I rearranged my sink business to fit in a second machine and also have an old one outside for the disgusting, filthy, caked on muddy, shitty, Agent/farmer’s clothes that regularly get plonked at my back door!

OMG, I can feel your pain but also your joy. Good to read on a day like today when I’ve done nothing but feel sorry for my sad self since the drive home. Promise me you’ll never change, k?

I don’t think I’ve been too scarred by the lack of modesty stars. 😉

The back-end of the cows–nature at its finest.

You’d have needed an entire constellation for that mob.

Even the cows’ back ends are beautiful! Shiny!!!
I had a little trouble getting to the current post today – unintentionally made a side trip to the copyright page – I have to tell you that the photo on that page is stunning!!!

It’s incredible sharing your adventures – experiences I’m sure I’ll never have. It looks exhilarating! In spite of the laundry. 🙂
Thanks so much for stopping by in the midst of your busy season. Happy weekend!
