Willy or won’t ‘e?
I tried to multitask on Sunday… you know, during the Fabulous Fishing Fail. I tried to accompany my ‘fishing kids’ AND take some bird photos.
Anyone see a hole in that plan? Anyone?
I shall paint a picture. Bird photos require QUIET. And STILL. And most of all QUIET.
Children? Who are asked to keep QUIET and STILL? Suddenly, they are like frogs in socks.
Gambolling delightfully for all, except those wanting to take bird photos.
A VERY very flawed plan.
Lucky for me, there IS one kind of bird that ignores most of the hullaballoo two humans can produce…. the willy wagtail.
Of course, my inability to properly focus on these darting little creatures? I shall have to shoulder the blame for that for myself.
Wheeee!!!!
Swooping to collect… an insect?
Flapping those tiny wings for another swoop….
And back for another pass…
Before resting up on a twig.
Random thought: Wish I could rest up on a twig. Wait… well, you know what I mean. Pretty sure even if I was of Twiggy-proportions (which I ain’t) I would still choose a more comfortable perch!
Don’t forget you can add your photo suggestions for the 2013 BB calendar – either in comments or via email.
Expect some polls to help me choose very soon.
Checking out from Granite Glen.

My suggestion for the 2013 calendar.
The photo up the top of the “willy wagtail” – once plentiful in Brisbane, now a novelty to be seen. Culprits: those wretched “mass murderers” of small birds, the Indian Mynah.
When I moved to now where I live, this suburb had “willy wagtails” galore. They were very ferocious in their little way when they were nesting. Zoom here, zoom there, zoom simply everywhere.
Yes – my top choice and January please, and the calendar will stay on January for the whole year. Just to remind me, of what once was.
Cheers

PS: I shall order my calendar when I know that Willy gets top billing – ha ha!

Wow great photos despite your not so quiet or still company. I love the 2nd last one and the one before that of Mr Willy Wagtail swooping. How an earth do you get such good bird in motion photos? I seem to be a little slow off the mark for them. Ah well practice, practice. Thanks for sharing.

We have Willys who sit on our pool fence. They are delightful creatures and you’re right. They don’t mind humans so much. All lovely photos. Your lagoon looks like a great place for bird photos.

Super photos again – love ’em, although it seems a donkey’s age since I saw a willy wagtail. There were thousands when I was growing up in Brisbane and lots when I came to the UK, but they seem to be disappearing here too [no mynah birds though].
