Snow home and snow bunnies

Thought I would share some snaps from our accommodation here in Perisher.  I always love it when Ree does this when she travels… a little insight into our ‘home away from home’.

The place we chose was the Stables* – where we could have self-contained units that shared a common entry with friends we are travelling with.

I have to say, we have more room than I thought we might – and the rooms are wonderfully warm with individual room, floor and gas-fire heating.  The kids beds are downstairs in an open area – luckily they are so exhausted from skiing at the end of each day they fall asleep very readily!

The main bedroom upstairs is enormous – one of those European two-together king singles.

The view out the windows is pretty spectacular!

You cannot see it here, but there is also a spa bath – a huge hit with Dash and Violet!

This is the view from the entry of the Stables complex… nice!

Of course, the real action is out on the nearby slopes…

I joined the clan to ride the quad lifts and see some ‘proper’ action.

Looking the part in their cold-weather gear (note the kids’ getting great wear from NYC purchases!).

Violet is a natural.  So is Dash, but he tends to go FAST and STRAIGHT DOWN…

Violet is a little more CONTROLLED.

Me?  While part of me wishes I could slide down the hill with them, my knee aches just thinking about those turns.

My main exercise is tackling the steep walk BACK up the hill to our units… luckily I have plenty of refreshments waiting for me there!

Frankly, I am happy tapping on my laptop, going for occasional walks to admire gum tree trunks emerging from the white drifts of snow, and ordering the coffee.  THAT’s a holiday!

PS What’s your idea of a great holiday? Action or relaxation?  Do share…

    Beautiful shots!
It is a case of “Benz ze knees” (stolen from Penelope Keith – “To the Manor Born”).
In the early 60’s before I went to PNG, a class group of us went two years 61/62 to Falls Creek!
On my second year at the Bogong Ski Lodge, rather primitive in those days, now sheer luxury, after much trying I was able to get from the top to the bottom without falling over. I guess after the lessons from the Swiss and Austrian instructors, I eventually got the hang of this “benz ze knees” business!
In the 1970’s I went again, stayed with friends at a lodge and to my utter surprise – I did “benz ze knees” and was able to get down without tumbles!!!
It was on this trip that I saw the spendour and costs of the Bogong Ski Lodge! My God, you needed a Swiss Bank account to have stayed there then!
Have fun and tell the kids to “benz ze knees”!!!

I’m with you BB…dicky knee here too. I’m OK on the sloping ground but the stairs are murder. So I’m happy to do the relaxation holiday…me and my camera. With my very sweet, very patient hubby waiting nearby giving me all the time I need and hauling the tripod around for me.
And then a nice cafe or Restaurant for food I didnt have to cook!
A snow holiday is on the bucket list…might put it at the top of the list.

See, too much ‘Silver Brumby’ in my mis-spent youth. I see the view and the slopes and think about all Elaine Mitchell;s books and start looking for hoof-prints.

But very beautiful and I’m glad you’re having fun.
