Emu’s in by a neck (poll)
This is cheating slightly. I wasn’t going to have emus in this year’s calendar… I just didn’t have a shot that I really liked of our crazy gigantic flightless Aussie birds.
But then, as Mr Incredible and I travelled to a meeting this morning, these guys lined up and posed like champions.
So I have pulled a Dame Nellie Melba and changed my mind.
Emus are in. I think…
But which one? Can you help? Choose your top 2 images in the poll at the end of this post.
Border Patrol– EMUS 1540
Two of a Kind – EMUS 1537
The Lone Ranger – EMUS 1548
Triple trouble – EMUS 1580
Heading for the Hill – EMU 1568
The Gallery – EMU 1559

Hmmmmmmmm! Scrath head and ponder!
I think this one: Heading for the Hill – EMU 1568
I might add this is after careful thoughts/deliberations, not a quick one.
I think a lot of rural people would prefer them in the “hills” and not on crops or fence breaking. Damn silly birds, but we are stuck with them and they are on the Australian Coat of Arms”.
Yep 1568 gets my vote – head for them damn hills – ha ha.
Anyhow tourists, who bring “loot” like to see them, and “oooh and aaah”, so in that case all things considered they are somewhat of an asset.
1568 gets my “humble” vote.

The last one is a little appealing to me, but essentially, nah. Without criticism of your photographic technique, they don’t work for me.

The Gallery – How can something so bird-witted look so elegant?
Bragger
I liked “The Gallery” because it’s head-on – doesn’t look like they’re trying to escape.
I liked “Border Patrol” because of the expression on his (her?) … face?

I like the gallery, all of them gawking right back at you.
If they had opposible thumbs, they’d doubtless be taking pictures of you.

According to my calculations, “heading for the hills” should have one more vote!
The “bushboy”!!! That makes 6 votes, not 5.
Com’on, the emus might just make Austria, and the hills will be alive “With the Sound of Music”!
Then again I have never in my life heard an emu “noise/talkie” to one another???
I suppose they do???

Love the birds so much, am glad to see them gracing your blog. I voted despite not buying a calendar yet…perhaps this will be the magic year !~!
