Welcome home!
The past seven days have been spent travelling and away from home for me – except for a 12 hour stint at one point when I picked up Dash and Violet, slept briefly then headed off again!
It was wonderful to be able to see off Mum and Dad at the airport, to catch up with my sister and her family…. and I do usually like driving, with our Land Cruiser getting a regular workout on bitumen and dirt …
… but after 2000km …
…and some dodgy motel beds, it feels goooooooooddd to be home!
I had a lovely welcome back.
The ducks were happy to see us…
And one Great Dane was a TAD over-excited that I miraculously returned…
He always does a few frantic laps of honour when I show up… regardless of whether I have been away a week or an hour.
According to those left behind, when I am away he completely refuses to come in the house. Which is weird because while I am here, he is wherever is nearest to me. (I do draw the line at the bedroom and bathroom doors!)
There is nothing like a dog to let you know how much you are missed – they have no filter on their feelings!
Well this one doesn’t anyway…
He has been my shadow (literally) ever since I drove into the driveway 16 hours ago…
Great big lunatic.
‘I wuv you Mum! Don’t evva leave me again!‘
I did get enough elbow space to get a few shots of the gorgeous colours of our Liquid Amber tree.
It’s a few degrees cooler here than the coastal areas I have been this week.
Super-crisp air and clear colours tell me Winter is definitely in the air!
So… what’s been happening in your worlds since I’ve been on the road?

It’s been baby love until I can’t even wonder anymore…. He came over Saturday night for several hours while mom and dad did the school fundraiser; magnificent sunset with him in my arms.
Playing in the fabric too has been a joy; building gifts for the rest of my Littles for Christmas and their birthdays coming up in the next months.

Well, my cat does come out to the car to greet me when I return from a shopping or errand trip of an hour or 4…!

Whoaaa! I’m away for a wee while, I came back and the Prado’s a Landcruiser and the blog’s had a makeover. Great new look.
The Dane’s shadow looks like that of a horse. Pretty similar, I guess. Love how pets are so attached. He’s gorgeous!

Looking for winter while driving on the wrong side of the road. BB–you’re upside down and backwards. But I LOVE it. When all the stars align and the pieces fall into place I’m going Downunder to see how it feels to have summer in December. Give that horse-dog an extra glad-I’m-home hug for me.

It is remarkable how pet cats and dogs are aware of their family’s homecoming! Surely they haven’t got that a six sense or a remarkable nose?? I think they must have.
Our dogs would go bananas with joy and “unfortunately pee” all over you. The cats would also join in the shenanigans (minus the pee bit!). I have seen the family horses also come at a gallop to welcome you back. Do your favourite riding horses do that also?
I don’t envy you that long drive, 2000 klms!
Yep, it sure is getting cooler. The winter months and I do not agree – Brrrrr!
