Cows, pigs and the birds in between
This time last week, I was busily setting up for a photo exhibition… it seems like it all just happened yesterday.
(If you missed the launch, check out this post to see some of the wonderful people who came out to support it. And click here to see a complete catalogue of the photos chosen. )
Sadly (for the bags under my eyes) there has been no rest for the wicked me, with plenty of visitors, a couple of days’ mustering action, a mountain of washing and a little visitin’ with friends going on.
We mustered, sorted and trucked cows and steers early in the week…
They were a curious bunch…
And quite well-behaved as we walked them between two sets of yards … there was a hungry chicken-hawk circling overhead, looking for smaller birds to lunch on.
He was amazingly agile and I swear this one was actually flying backwards to keep an eye on his intended prey…
I am pleased to report he was still hungry when we last saw him. (I always barrack for the little bird!)
On Thursday I whipped over to Bundaberg to see my niece, my sister and a friend…
Recognise that grin on the left? Puts mine to shame, really. Heh. It’s TJ. Or her on-stage alter-ego Jenny*. (*link to r-rated humour site, save it til you get home, okay?)
We might seem worlds apart (okay, I guess Chicago and Granite Glen are pretty close to that description) but I do love this chick’s company. Plus she is as FUNNY as… which you would expect when her Dad is one Kevin B Wilson.
He wasn’t really pinching me here, but I tried to make it look like that! Such a sweet, mild-mannered bloke off-stage. On stage? Not so much. Sister Jeanie came with me, and as predicted by my husband, she needed the anti-mist spray for her glasses by the end of the show.
All I know is that I needed 73 glasses of water the next day – two glasses of wine and less than two beers (which I rarely drink these days) and a post-midnight bedtime, and my morning mouth was as dry as… (insert naughty Jenny/KBW line here). I am definitely getting old.
My drive home managed to distract me nicely though… first visiting these Rob and Sarah Cook (who never fail to make me smile) and then seeing this sight…
At first glance, looking suspiciously like wild pigs.
But way WAY less wild.
And wearing a necklace. Right.
I think someone has lost some pigs! In the middle of a forest. As you do. I have put out an alert on Facebook, but as yet no-one has (publicly) claimed their bacon.
To top it all off, after picking up Dash and Violet from their Sports Day, and visiting a stud cattle open day on the way, I arrived home to find my own new necklace in the mail. Along with a bracelet. From a local artisan whose work I love.
Simple. Silver. Soooooooo me! My Christmas present to myself.
(I am sure Christmas is JUST around the corner, isn’t it?)
So. Enough about my wacky week. Your turn now…
1. What went on in YOUR week?
2. And are you a BLINGY or a SIMPLE kinda jewellery girl? Or guy?
Time to spill…
😀

I don’t wear a lot of jewelry, but I do love earrings. I have some nice pieces that I trot out on special occasions, but mostly they sit in their boxes. What have I been doing? Going to work. Working in the garden. Trying to stay cool. My week was not as exciting as yours, not by a long shot.
