Vale Lacey
Our hearts are aching here today.
The time came to say farewell to our sweet, sweet Lacey.
We have known for a couple of years that her healthy time on this earth was limited. Finally, today, she took her last breath in the shade of an ironbark tree, overlooking the river.
She taught both Dash and Violet to ride, and (previously) has been many things to many people.
A little of her history with our family is here and here – I won’t rehash because this computer screen is a little blurry for some reason.
Can’t think why.
RIP darling girl.

Oh what an awful time for you all BB. My screen is blurry too right now. Whether its a much loved horse or a family moggie…the pain of their loss is still the same, so I will have a little cry for you all because I know the heartache they leave you with. She was a beautiful lady and her gentleness and sweet nature is written all over her. I do feel for Dash and Violet though, even though this is a part of their rural life, it must be a heartbreaking time for them. Sending big hugs for you all today.

That is very sad news. However, Lacey, a real family member, decided when and where – under the old ironbark tree. I doubt whether Mary O’Hara of the “My Friend Flicka” trilogy could have scripted it better. My three favourite books when I was a kid, and I still have the 3 of them.
Maybe bury Lacy standing up under the old ironbark, just as the Romans and Greeks did with their favourite horses in the BC years.
That would be a fitting tribute.
Again very sad for you all.

So sorry to hear this. I wish our horses lived as long as we do.

Sorry to hear this. While I’m not a horse lover, it was your pet and a member of the family and losing such is just awful.

Four years down the track and I still mist up when I think about saying goodbye to my favourite horse. Those we love never really leave us – they are always close if we look.
