Dust winner!
Was blown away by the entries in the ‘When the Dust Settles’ giveaway here this week… was delighted at the quotes offered by my very clever readers! (Check back in comments here if you missed them.)
So the question is … who won the autographed book by the inspiring Rob Cook?
There were a total of 41 eligible entries (one entry per quote offered), so I popped the total into Random Integer and pressed GENERATE.
Drumroll please… Entry 19 was offered by Jac (who has a great blog and site here) -CONGRATS!!
Jac had shared a few fabulous entries:
‘Freedom is instantaneous the moment we accept things as they are.‘ ~ Karen Maezen Miller
‘Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, “I will try again tomorrow.” ‘ – Mary Anne Radmacher.
‘The beauty in realising our dreams is not when we make a decision to pursue them, but when we gently yet relentlessly put actions to that decision.’ – Jac
The comments section from this giveaway is an absolute treasure trove which I shall visit often.
Among my other favourites quotes left by entrants were:
“If wishes were horses even beggars would ride.” Author unknown.
‘Life is mostly froth and bubble,
two things stand like stone,
kindness in another’s trouble,
courage in your own.’ – Adam Lindsay Gordon
‘Those who lose dreaming are lost.’ – Aboriginal Proverb
“I’m so busy, I don’t know if I found a rope or lost my horse.” ~ tee shirt saying
Thanks so much for taking part in this giveaway… I have enjoyed reading every entry and seeing the interest in this book build and build.
If you haven’t yet read Rob’s amazing story (you’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll cringe, you’ll shake your head in wonder A LOT) then please pick it up and take yourself Outback.
You can get it here (Amazon), at ABC Bookshops, Bookworld and Harper Collins (e-books).
I cannot wait to hear what you think of his story, and this book. It is full of real, laconic Aussie storytelling from a man who sees life from a unique perspective – a Nuffield scholar, a family man with multiple awards for courage and a cattleman who has learned to tackle his calling from his motorised chair. I guarantee you’ll see the world a little differently by the time you turn that last page.
I’m going to leave you with a quote from Rob himself…
“Life holds massive opportunities for those who choose to conquer life’s greatest challenges. It is absolutely no different for someone in a wheelchair.”

Congratulations, Jac! I just took a look at your blog – some interesting stuff there. I know you’ll be busy reading your new book as soon as it arrives.

Thanks for visiting Nancy – it’s a WIP. Hopefully useful at the same time :).

Oh Fan-bloody-tastic! That’s ME.
I feel really honored to be the random one. You won’t believe how I went “on and on and ON” about the fact that Rob personally signed YOUR book. Dragging my husband over to show him. I can’t wait to read it and I am sure everything else will just get ignored until it’s finished!
Thanks again Amanda. You produce great images, great words and you’re a great ambassador for all those on the land. 😉
Hugs Jac
