Cal
A few years ago we met a young man. Well he was a kid really -a 14-year-old helping out at the cattle pavilions at Beef 2009 in Rockhampton.
THrough some twists of fate, his brother Lachlan came to work here at Granite Glen for a year and eventually, so did Cal.
He arrived as a very shy, quiet teenager with a mullet haircut which he wore with pride.
Eighteen months later he is leaving us to head of on a huge adventure… with a short-back-and-sides.
We are missing him already – our patient hard-working jackaroo who fitted into our family as easily as his brother did.
That bloke on the left is REALLY gonna miss him. And the bloke in the middle enjoyed having a fit young whipper snapper by his side too!
iTunes the foal will miss her dose of Cal attention…
If ever we couldn’t find him, you could be sure he was messing around with a horse somewhere.
Violet and Dash will miss him…He was a big brother to them, available to annoy (Violet) and punch and wrestle (Dash). And play electronic games with!
With a dose of this…
Pretending to do this (and becoming VERY popular on Station Photo’s Facebook page!)…
To doing this…
That’s right – Callum is dedicated bull rider, and is off to the USA on a rodeo scholarship. I didn’t even know that was possible before meeting him.
We wish him safe travels and all the luck (and good management) in the world. Go get ’em, cowboy!
We know one thing for sure: life will definitely be less colourful here!
🙂

Best of luck. perhaps he’ll cross northern California’s circuit and we’ll have a chance to cheer for him locally. (I had no idea you could get a rodeo scholarship either-so much to know, so little time to learn it.
