When the rain tumbles down…
It’s been some amazing weather in Queensland over this past week… Thought I might share some of the shots – both on the proper ‘big girl’ camera and on my trusty iphone – to share some of the joy we have experienced with this unseasonal ‘winter wet’.
We are utterly stoked too, that so many further west in the ‘serious drought zone’ (most of central and western Queensland) have been under some BIG falls.
If you are not already a member of ‘Who Got the Rain?‘ Facebook page then get on over and subscribe!! So amazing to see some of the incredible images coming from those who haven’t experienced decent falls for so many years… the exhilaration is palpable!
I attended a three-day netball carnival with Violet in Yeppoon late last week as the big rain was predicted to arrive…
We managed to get most games played (our team was valiant in many defeats but Violet scored a few goals to keep a smile on her competitive little dial) before it really set in.
She might not be very big, but she IS very fierce… and can jump apparently!!
I know I am weird but I LOVE driving in the rain… it makes me HAPPY. I sing. I sing LOUD.
It’s not pretty, but it IS enthusiastic. My daughter owns headphones which is apparently very necessary equipment when travelling with me!
Our last two days at home for school holidays were therefore filled with inside fun – fire in the fireplace, cards on the table, and snacks galore… we partied hard!
I am NOT a great 500 player – but I somehow managed to beat my husband TWICE with various teammates. This weekend is now officially family folklore.
Home-made garlic and cheese crisps and hommus – YUM!
Then we drove Dash back to boarding school – he actually loves it there, so the parting is not so much ‘sweet sorrow’ as slightly bittersweet for this Mama. He cannot wait to get back to catch up with mates! (We love that he loves it though).
I fitted a flying trip (literally) to Brissy as well and saw Mother Nature’s efforts from the air.
Nice work, old girl… quite impressive near Rockhampton!
We managed 57mm in the gauge this time – and with the lovely warm days since, means you can almost see those tiny shoots of grass growing!
And it’s like that for miles and miles!!! Big happy smiles in this household…
How did you fare with recent weather events???
I’d love to hear your report in comments….

I couldn’t get carried away with our measure of moisture. 17mm. Didn’t stop any outdoor activities or trips but has made my neglected lawn look as if it wants help. Maybe being at home for a week or two will do the job. Summer weather this weekend and hopefully some more”unexpected” rain.

Gorgeous! So happy to hear about wet stuff falling far and wide. It has been rather wet up here in the north as well. I am pretty sure cane farmers are not particularly thrilled by it, they are trying to harvest. I am loving it and would love it even more if I was home to relax and enjoy. Enjoy that green growing that is happening.

Rain has been a grazier’s delight our way. We measured between 205 and 230mm all over. Like you, I’m thrilled to see it reasonably widespread to the North and West. Almost perfect to see the sun here today and Spring like temperatures. Happy days x (my boarder loves going back to, so good to know they are happy)

Weather is kind of a touchy subject for me – we had a storm blow through last Thursday that knockout out our power and we were without until the following Monday! Hot! Hot! Hot! (and humid!) And on top of it all, we only got .06″ of rain out of it.
Loved getting caught up with your life through all these lovely photos. Oh – I just got my first “real” camera and I’ve had fun experimenting with it on the automatic setting. 🙂
