It’s a BOY…
We had a surprise of the very best kind yesterday…
A baby boy arrived at our place – courtesy of a gorgeous-looking mare of ours called Scandal. He is her first foal and we weren’t sure how she would take to motherhood, as she can be a feisty, strong-willed horse. I think our worries were unfounded…
SOMETIMES, you just let the photos do the talking…
So if you are anything like me… and let’s face it, I went completely mad with the camera at this little dude, so it’s not hard to guess… you lost your heart somewhere in that photo series too, right?
His Daddy is a grey too – we hoped he might be the same but that colour looks awfully dark at the moment.
Now all I need to do is narrow down my favourite from this series for next year’s calendar.
Help me out here, folks.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE PIC BELOW??

Photo #1 is my favorite I suggest Abbeys Secret for a name. Looks like there is some arab blood in his lineage?

I think that’s the newborn, dishy-faced look!

So beautiful, we call it foal magic. It’s pretty easy to ignore all the work needing to be done while you watch a foal.. Greys are never born grey, but he sure looks brown right now. Who’s the Dad?
BB of Oz
Abbey’s Mate. Another grey.
Rebecca
Ear shape as well
Leenie
Awwwww….so HANDSOME! Eyes, legs, tufty mane. A winner and a mom just doing the best mom-thing ever.

Hadn’t really thought of it being a young name. Hmm…President? 😉

Love the photos. My favourites are the first and last ones

Have to admit… it’s why they were first and last! 😉

Wow! Love those ears and long legs – nearly as long as mum’s. Yes he may lose some (or all) of the coat colour. I look forward to meeting them.
Another job for Mark in the yards?…..

Look forward to introducing you!

Yes, it’s nice in B&W as well!

My vote goes for #1, #2, #10, or #11 (I love that profile and the hay on his back from Mama eating over him!) I know nothing about horses, so interesting to know that greys aren’t born grey… that he’ll lighten up.
New life (especially of the animal kind) is good for the soul and can bring great joy. When I came in from church this morning, my husband told me we had a new calf. (when you only have a dozen or so cows, that’s an exciting thing) I hope I see it when I take my walk to the pasture in the morning!

Yes – the cycle of life brings all the emotions, doesn’t it? We are closer than most to that cycle, raising animals with shorter life spans than ourselves… so we get to ride that rollercoaster a little bit more. 🙂

The task of picking a favourite is just too hard. But I do love the looking into the distance, liberally sprinkled with lucerne hay look.

Yes it’s pretty darned cute. The equine equivalent of glitter!!
