Up in the air…
It feels like an old-fashioned Summer here at the moment…
After so much terrible dry last year, it feels hopeful.
Heavy.
Hot.
Humid…
Our skies are changing it up by the minute – clear, then wispy high cloud, then rolling grey balls of thunder, most of them sliding south of us and just giving us lightning shows. But we are counting our blessings that we have been under a couple of lovely small falls in the past month… greening up our countryside dramatically.
Up in the air, the action is not all just precipitation related…
Birds are BUSY too…
This big flock followed the path of our river yesterday afternoon…
You cannot see the river in this pic, but trust me, it’s behind those trees somewhere. And there are TWO flocks of birds…
Can you spot them???
They circled for ages…
I often wonder who is in charge of air traffic control up there? There has to have been over 100 birds whirling around…
For those wondering, they were egrets…

Amazing what a little weather brings out… besides my camera!

Well that’s the case for the last 48 hours in Brisbane. Storms are predicted for this afternoon – I think they are gathering somewhere over the “Pampas of Argentina” !!!
Still the great news is you have excellent grass and I think with more summer rain, I will get my intake of excellent beef steaks. So I will just put up with the heat and sauna conditions – I do eat!! ha ha.
I bet that pool of yours is getting plenty of use after working the stock etc.

That flock of birds that flies in the v-formation…were those the egrets, or did they fly in the mob? The only birds that I know of that fly in a v-formation here are geese. Scientifically they say that it is because they are such ungainly birds that they are maximizing their aerodynamics to make flight easier. Is that true of egrets too, I wonder?

We have our share of egrets and other wading birds, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen that many of them flying together!
