And they call it…

Okay, enough with scaring the pants off you all… so sorry about that.
In my defence, I really didn’t quite understand the effect of unleasing an image of the deadliest snake in the world on an unprepared audience. I shall give you fair warning next time, I promise…

Well, I’ll try.
How about if I just shout “Depend” in the intro and that’ll be your cue to cross your legs and grab the nearest brown paper bag.
Okay?
Okay.
So to make up for all that incontinence-inspiring excitement, I give you…

A P U P P Y !

Cruel’s litter are now ten days old, and keeping SSB and the kids out of the laundry “mess room” and away from Cruel and the pups has been… a challenge (to say the least)!
Dash and TLW have naturally been entranced and constantly volunteering to “check on Cruel” for me. My daughter arrives back from each foray downstairs to confirm loudly that she has NOT touched the puppies, just LOOKED from the doorway. Hmmmmm.
SSB has been besotted from Day 1.

My big strong, silent, sexy, serious bloke has fallen in love.
With the very first ever litter of puppies he has really experienced.
I had no idea, and kept wondering where he disappeared to at half-hourly intervals while he was in the house.
Then I followed him.
To the laundry.
To Cruel.
To the puppies.
Awwwwww….
The cranky old lady of the house (that would be me) finally let them get one and have a proper cuddle yesterday.

And here’s what all the fuss is about.

How. Seriously. Freaking. Cute. Is. This. Thing?

Gads… even with it’s eyes still fused it’s ‘aaaawwwwww’-inspiring.

There are three boys – that’s right. Boys. We had a minor gender mis-identification at birth and have our fingers crossed that no serious long-term psychological damage has been done to the poor little tyke. We are furiously saving for therapy.

They are also the fattest little one-week-old pups in all Queensland.
Ten teats divided by 3 pups = seriously obese baby canines (burp!).
They are like little ticks, they are so fat.

So is all forgiven now? D’ya all love me again?

Have I made up for the awfulness of yesterday’s post?

Good.

Now let’s put this little fella back in with Mama Cruel.

Oh, OK. One last pat then…

You can look again tomorrow.

If you are very, very good.

Puppies! Oh WOW! They are so mindblowingly CUTE! I’ve turned into a blubbering, gushing, baby talking twit looking at those totally gorgeous photos. No wonder you guys can’t keep away from them.
So Jeanie – Picked a name for yours yet? 😉

Oh, my goodness, they are ADORABLE! I want one. I can’t believe how big they’ve gotten in just 10 days. I want one. If one suddenly comes up missing from your laundry room, I had nothing to do with it. Really. Blame Gerard.

i seem to remember a show i watched about australia’s more venomous denizens and the particular snake you showed isn’t aggressive and has very short fangs and therefore doesn’t bite many people. i could be wrong though.

the puppies…they look like little fat sausages. if they got any cuter you’d be killing your readers. seriously, those puppies are more lethal than the snake.

i’m glad ssb has become smitten. he can be the one who herds them when they become mobile and underfoot.

Alison – Jeanie will have to be quick to get her mits on one of these pups. Methinks she’ll be content with puppy visitation rights.

Debby – calm yourself woman… I shall NOT be blaming Gerard. The poor fellow is busy trying to get into hibernation mode and you’re planting felonies on him. You need to be very careful with any puppy abductions – Cruel may be better named than originally suspected.

DW – the puppies do indeed look like sausages. Hairy sausages. Or furry slugs. Take your pick. I suspect SSB will be busy when the first lots of shoes are chewed. Ah, the fun ahead!

Oooh – he’s nearly got his eyes open!!!

Actually Deb – ‘Salina wants a horse more than a dog, and both are just as improbable over here – but they are only 2 1/2 hours away.

V – now he too fell in love when he saw them.

Whoo, darling, just darling. Fat little piglets! I know they do look like ticks, our heeler is named Tick for that very reason.

As for the gender mis-identification, last year during foaling season I informed my dd that her mare had delivered a colt. I went back after a cup of coffee and discovered it was a filly instead. Now no one around here believes anything I say unless I have a cup under my belt.

I hope we’re good enough for another puppy post tomorrow.

How cold does it get there? You keep talking about winter and hibernation, etc. Describe your winter, please.

*waits patiently because she’s like that*
