Faces of the week that was…
Oh Lord, I’ve been a bad, bad blogger. Hopeles. Neglectful. Busy.
If you have popped over and kept getting faced with the same old scrolling screenshots, I apologise. I warn you though, I am going to list my excuses. With the occasional (slightly scary) illustration. So get yourself a decent coffee or good chardy (depending on the time of day at your place) and brace yourself – it’s a wee bit mega. And a lot all over the place!
Where do I begin? Hmmm…
Let’s see, post-Goodwill Games, post-under-eights-day, mid-Mr Incredible’s working birthday, mid-hand-feeding my little weaner bulls… I started …well… being very unwell. It was either a sudden-onset virus courtesy of 1000 little semi-washed hands at the local pre-school or a mouthful of something suspect, but whatever it was… it didn’t like me. Not one little bit.
Let’s just say that the little weaner bulls didn’t get my full attention that afternoon, and sadly, neither did my kids. Or their wonderful teacher who arrived out to give their reports (and bring Mr Incredible a birthday offering of cooked prawns). I recall the general gist of what she was telling us, but the poor thing had to contend with me dashing out of the room at regular intervals during our ‘interview’. Charming.
My poor husband. Not only did he have a violently ill wife waiting for him after a hard day’s work. But all he got for his birthday dinner was… prawns. THANKS Mrs S! (Great prawn sauce by the way – recipe in this book, for those interested!)
So anyway… after 12 hours of me NOT being fun to be around… I kinda came good. So, the super hectic weekend we had planned went ahead. Kids off to school Friday, bags packed for sleepovers with grandparents, kitchen scraped clean-ish, bags packed for day trip to far-flung meeting with reluctant husband in tow.
And then we met this little dude…
Cute little fellah, no?
(More about this Aussie bush monster in a later post)
And then, after a night away from our offspring… we belted home to find THIS going on in our home town…
Honey, it was HAPPENING in our sleepy little main street. There was a festival complete with floats and parades and stalls and tapas. I cannot recall seeing so many bodies in that space for many, many years. It was (as my Yank friends might say): ARRRSSSSOME!
Made me a tad emotional (or maybe that was the post-vomiting, post-extreme drive, post-monster experience getting to me?).
And then there were THESE little faces…
Ah my puppies. They missed me. When they weren’t ripsticking around Nana’s house. And eating cereal. And being spoiled generally.
And since arriving home, my darling sister and I have been hard at it, mustering computer cows. Which is code for bookwork on our stud cattle enterprise – not QUITE as much fun as mustering the REAL thing. To be honest Jeanie is doing most of the virtual mustering, and I am more the offsider. Washing and feeding the masses.
But the payoff is getting to spend some quality time with this one…
So scuse me (typed she with one hand as she cuddled her swaddled niece).
The End.

Your niece is adorable, and your little munchkins are sorta kinda scary!!! But I love that first monster – what a cutie it is!

Being around such adorable children, I am not sure how you get anything done. Even when you’re not barfing up your toenails. Or whatever.

Awww, sorry you’ve been sick. No fun at all. I think we’ll accept it as a reasonable excuse for any slowness on the blogging front.
Cute, cute, cute, is all I can say about those kid photos! Topped off by that last one. Ohhhh!
And ‘Awesome Nana’ is what I have to say about your Mum getting online and commenting! (Would you consider adopting me Barb?)
I am so bummed that I am not able to take the opportunity to go on that bike ride that passes through that home town of yours.
