The last one. It needs no words to express what is going on, and it shows the speed at which it is happening. I like the fourth one as well, but it doesn’t capture the ‘speed’ as well as the last one.

My favorite pictures of horses workin’ cattle are always the ones where the horse looks intense and a bit grumpy at the cow. Those ‘Listen here you wee furry bugger…ain’t no way your going to get by me. I’m the boss you go where I say’ shots. So shot 2 the horse just doesn’t look ‘on’ enough to me. (But as a horse shot goes I do love it…just not as a workin’ shot.) Not tryin’ to criticize your work just tryin’ to explain myself.

I loved #3. Just the "expression" of work in the "tone" of the hooves & legs working. The dirt flying under the hooves gives the impression that I'm actually there seeing this horse working so magnificently.

My fave is number four. The wranglers, the horse and calf running, sand flying- it is just classic. But I have to say the first shot was a very close second to this one. I just love velvety horse muzzles.

I like them all, but love the last one. The faces on both animals are straining with the intent of winning the battle and it shows in their eyes. Even the posture of the unseen rider is leaning into the act.

I like them all but for some reason I am particularly drawn to #3.
The composition of the shot is wonderful.
I love the purple hoof guards in the midst of all the grey of the horse and brown of the ground.
Not sure why, it just calls to me!

I love the first one. I just want to rub my cheek on it. Looks so soft.
I like #4 also, the action in that picture is great. Everything is moving: tails, dirt, hoofs, legs. It really draws me in and makes me feel like I am there.

Action shot of horse in mid-stride (and mid-turn too if the height of the rider’s feet speak to me correctly) – the captured explosion of dirt in the bottom-right corner – oh, and the hoof covers too (yes, I’m curious also).
They’re all great shots, to be sure, but #3 just has that special something.

They are ALL so good, of course, BB! I love the first one, and the last one (the headless horseman, LOL!) I love the look of neck-to-neck competition between the bull and the horse. Also, I’m totally spacing out here…do you use a Nikon?

I’m going to buck the crowd here and go with one and two. I love close how much you can see in just the horses mouth and nose and in the reins in the first one. It’s very intense. And the second one is the perfect mix of jeans, leather and horse. You can see how intense the horse is the posture of the rider is great. They are all great but i like the first two and of the two i’d have to say that number one is my favorite. Thanks for the great pics!

They are all amazing shots, and all for different reasons. Any one could be The One. But my pick is Number 5 – the back of the gray horse. I like it because it feels like they are flying – the cows back hooves are airborne, as are the hind legs of the gray horse. In fact, looking closely, his front left hoof is not quite touching the ground, so all weight is suspended on his front right for a split second. But the hind legs flying out behind him, along with his tail, make me feel like I am flying along with him. Plus the red of the saddle pad adds some oomph.

I love #1, when I look at it I could tell what it would feel like if I went to touch him. Your camera even picked up the fine hairs in the horse nose. It also shows how small the bit in his mouth is and it amazes me how a small piece of metal directs such a large animal.

I think #1. I like the setup of the shot, the feel of “chomping at the bit”, the quiet tension before the task at hand. The horse waiting for the command of his rider. Looking ahead for the action to come.
I love the close view of the bridle, the leather and rope against the soft muzzle of the horse. I can just smell it.

My favorite is number 4, but the first one is close behind. I like this on because the dirt is flying, the steer is running and feel like you’re right there watching the scene right outside the corral.
