Friends, forgetfulness (and whips)…
Once upon a time
A girl called Bush Babe went to work in a newspaper office
near the beach in Sunny Queensland.
It was a very male-dominated workplace,
and while the boys were mostly nice blokes
it was a young blonde girl who made BB feel right at home.
She was super-organised and seriously talented
and as sweet as anyone BB had ever met in her life.
…
Through the years, this girl would come to be one of BB’s very
bestest friends in the whole wide world.
They would share stories and ideas
and lean on each other through the emotional rollercoaster
that is being a woman.
…
This girl would also be a photographer at the
wedding of BB and Mr Incredible,
sharing her incredible gift in the best way possible
by capturing the joy of that special day.
…
And she would get married herself
(where BB would return the favour)
and go on to bear gorgeous twins
with whom BB’s own offpsring would cavort
at our unnofficial photographers’ playgroup.
…
And despite the fact that BB would abandon her neck of the woods
and abscond to the Bush with her family,
this girl would remain firmly in touch,
despite her friend’s inability to return phone calls.
Or remember birthdays.
Kaz (‘feathergirl’ at right) reminded me last night.
I absolutely CANNOT believe I forgot your birthday.
AGAIN.
I am a moron.
What does one get for a friend who puts up with this kind of terrible behaviour?
I guess I can share our memories of your latest visit with your darling duo…
Am suspecting the little flirtation we picked up on might be a two-way thing?
Gads! I thought we had another 10 years before we dealt with hormones?
…
Or perhaps I could share your prowess with a whip with the world?
(Look out Oby, your wife is quite dangerous with leather strips!)
You know how you are all Surfer Girl even deep in the Aussie bush
and yet will have a RED hot go at anything?
Even cracking a whip
In the middle of a dust storm?
who take precious time from their day to visit this little black blog,
to wander over to YOUR PLACE
or even to your very own blog?
And they too can be wowed with your skill.
(If they haven’t already been wowed by your smile. And whip-crackin’ style.)
Would that start to make up for my oversight?
I love you, girlfriend!
…
Oh. And HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
(and thanks Kaz for slapping me around the head and reminding me!)

A Novel Woman
(psst…when in doubt, blame it on hormones)
You are one good looking bunch! Happy Birthday Lou Lou, from across the world in Montreal, or as we say here, Bonne Fete. I'll have a bagel in your honour.

I always tell my friend Dixie that her problem is that, really, she needs to get a better class of friends. Despite that, she keeps me.

Thanks guys for comments of girlfriend support! I am lucky mine are so patient with me…
Lulu, I am never happy until I bring tears. Generally to myself, but if I can spread the leaky love, then all is good!!
Hugs

T Lee – I am not ignoring you! I will go into this in a later post. It's a little fiddly to get images big like this, but worth it, I reckon!
