Shaking it up

I thought to myself this morning:

You know, if I was a new reader to this blog, I might think that ALL this chick writes about is RAIN.

And how boring would THAT be?

Well, I know SOME parts of it might be action-packed and a little bit awe-inspiring, but I can hear the ‘ENOUGH ALREADY’ cries coming from y’all!

So today, I present…

VIOLET in black-and-white…

This girl of mine is so funny – she ADORES horses and more than that, she is PASSIONATE about riding.

Every time the sun peeps through those clouds, she’s off to her bedroom and into a pair of jeans and riding boots.  And, while she is there, she arms herself with a longing look to convince her parents into letting her have a ride.  And having a new horse (he arrived as ‘Creamy’ and has been re-named ‘Sandy’ by her new jockey) has only intensified this desire.

I decided to lead with a black-and-white shot today to shake it up even more (gosh, it’s a wild ride here every day, isn’t it?).   All those muddy browns and violent greens in the last few weeks…

Of course, the gorgeous palomino colour demands a little acknowledgement too…

That there, folks, is one happy little girl.

So… how are things in the outside world?

And how is January ’11 treating you lot?

🙂

Sandy is GORGEOUS! And Violet is becoming such a beautiful princess. I am jealous, jealous, jealous.

I love how you’ve captured the motion and the muscles of Violet’s new friend and the confidence of the rider.

Hoping for less mud and more sunshine for you. All of you (y’all).

    Hey, me again.
On the subject of constant blogging about the flooding—remember, you probably started this blog to document family life and share with close friends. The flooding is of historic proportions, you must document it whether the readers have had enough or not.
Stay safe! The silly American news has you all surrounded by snakes and crocs. 🙂

Watch out pony clubs and country shows, Miss Violet, is coming!
Great shots of Miss Violet and her beautiful palimino pony. I have a feeling that Miss Violet will have a room draped with championship ribbons.
Way back in the 1950’s I loved my pony club experiences – sleeping in the sheep and cattle sheds at the Moree Show Ground for 3 or more days of horsemanship. The motto was – “Horse first, you second”.
So everything was done to ensure the horse was groomed, fed and watered and then you could line up for your food.
    Great days indeed.
    Cheers

I can see the joy in Violet’s face! I never had many opportunities to ride, but when I did I felt amazingly high on being up there in the air and wind. I loved bike riding, but it wasn’t quite the same sensation. Your kids are amazingly fortunate!!!

I didn’t get tired of the flood blogs – it was better than news items. Just so tragic for so many.

A beautiful horse with a lovely young lady astride!!

Tell me, does it confuse a horse to be renamed like that? We took in a mama dog (pregnant at the time, but we didn’t know that) who had obviously had other litters before. We call her “mama dog” (and she responds), but I’ve always wondered what she was called (if anything) in her former life.
