Good news, not-so-good news

Guess what?

You know how I have managed to LOSE ALL MY AMERICAN TRIP PHOTOS

Well, I found some of the pic files – copies I had made (kinda accidentally) as I tried downloading images while on the trip from the camera onto via our new laptop onto the external hard drive.  Thank goodness I am hopeless and inefficient and a ‘babe in the woods’ still when it comes to all things techno…  and many images ended up doubling up on the laptop itself.

Therefore, my patient friends, the FairyBlogTale shall recommence soon.

I have yet to work out what ones are still missing… actually, in true BB fashion, I have decided NOT to think too hard about it in order to remain calm.

Which is tricky when my Local Techno Wizz has pretty much given up on the task of prising the main files from my recalcitrant external hard drive.  And he might send it to New Zealand.  You heard me – sending a little hard drive over the Tasman to extricate the 5000 photos and goodness knows how many little videos shot by Dash and Violet on their little compact cameras…I imagine that will not be an inexpensive exercise.

*deep breath*

Don’t think about it… don’t THINK ABOUT IT!!!!

Concentrating on the Good News…

The next chapter of my silly little travel tale, will have something to do with PIZZAS and PIANOS…

Don’t change the channel…

See you shortly.

oooooooohhhh, I know that sick feeling that you are trying hard not to think about… And yes many a days dread over retrieving photos from an external hard drive. *gulp* Good luck, wishing that the kiwis work their techno magic on your HDD and that all ends well. Will keep my fingers crossed too, if that helps.

It must be sickening to think you may have lost them all. Luckily you found some duplicates on the laptop. BB had a similar problem and the techs wanted hundreds of dollars to retrieve stuff. He did’t bother. The big piano is fun, I’ve seen You Tube videos of them being played.

Think less about the photos lost, and more about the experience you had. I remember when our house was burgled many years ago, a lot of things I lost were things handed down from my grandmother, and I was just gutted. But then I made a conscious decision to accept it, that it was and is just stuff. No one got hurt, my memories were all intact.

You had an amazing trip of a lifetime with your family. That’s what matters.

(That being said, I DO hope you get them all back from New Zealand!)

Hmmmm…now I’ll have to send good wish vibes to New Zealand?? Recalculating…recalculating G.P.S.—-

The pizza looks SO U.S.A. as well as the big piano from Tom Hank’s BIG. Did you get together with Violet and play, “Heart and Soul”?

Hoping, hoping, hoping that your 1.5 million photos can be recovered…

But, as other commenters said, if not – you still have wonderful memories of your family trip! I’ll bet Dash and Violet can draw some memories…

BB, I don’t know if it’s been tried yet, but sometimes, with failing hard drives, you can freeze them and sometimes get data back.

Put drive into a sealed zip-lock bag and place in the freezer for about 30 minutes – take it out, plug it in, and maybe…

Ask your techno-whizz friend if that’s a viable option; as an innocent bystander, I accept no liability for the veracity of the claim, lol.
