Jenny and BB

We had a visitor here at Granite Glen yesterday… someone I met some time ago in blogland and then IRL at a show of hers early last year (before I moved to wordpress).  (Here is her version of the same meeting).

You know how you just sometimes ‘connect’ with someone without really trying?  Someone you might NEVER meet except by unexplainable chance? Well this is that kind of someone.

Her life really couldnt be any more different than mine – she lives in Chicago, I live in the Aussie bush. She is teeny and blonde, I am tallish and brunette(ish).  She is famous for her potty mouth (on stage) and I rarely swear.  She is unbelievably hysterically funny and I get a random giggle if I am lucky. Her name (her blog and stage name) is Jenny.  Her link is here (be warned, the language there is definitely R-rated).  She is part-way through a tour of Queensland with this guy – someone whose side-splitting, blue humour is legendary Down Under and in many corners of the globe (again, don’t click that link if you are easily offended – Mum that means you!).   This bloke also happens to be her dad.

Aside: I recall a road trip through Queensland and the Northern Territory in my mid-20s with my brother and a couple of mates, with a tape deck and about five cassettes.  One of which was Kevin Bloody Wilson.  Despite being a sheltered little soul and not really being a fan (sorry Kev) of his artform at that stage in my life, by the end of that trip I could recite every single song word-for-word.

Despite all the differences in our chosen lives and our worlds, I cannot begin to tell you how much I enjoyed having Jenny here for a night. She arrived late in the afternoon (after giving me a heart attack when we failed to rendevous at a local landmark) and settled in by handing out gifts to us all. (Mine was Baileys, so I know she DEFINTELY reads this blog!)

In Real Life she is sweet and a whole lotta fun (hope I don’t ruin her street cred too badly).

We talked and we talked and we talked…

Okay there was a random glass of wine thrown in there too.

My husband enquired on more than one occasion if either of us had drawn breath yet…

The thing is, when you are super multitasking heroes (aka women) …

…you can talk and DO STUFF at the same time.

Like feed voracious poddy calves, like Bay Leaf.

A couple of megastars sharing a special (slightly slobbery) moment.

This morning, after feeding the myriad of hungry creatures at my place, I took Jen for a drive…

She took in some Granite Glen countryside and carefully observed some preg-testing Mr Incredible was carrying out.

Not sure what this look says? She did suggest that perhaps he should buy the heifers some flowers next time.

*SNORT*

Am hoping she drives safely back to the tour proper…

If you spot someone by the roadside taking photos of marsupials to show her Yank mates, please let me know. And remind her the show starts at eight.

Love yer guts, babe!

PS Congrats to my funny friend, who as of yesterday has taken out all ten places in the top ten Spoken Word Comedy on CDBaby.
