I was forced to take a paddock drive yesterday – I won’t tell on my Dad but let’s just say we might need to write reminder notes on his dashboard when he leaves for his work-day in future! Ahem…
As is the case every time I am out cruising the back roads of our place however, I saw many amazing things. Things that kept my Nikon quite busy. Can you imagine?
Can you see what I spotted here?
HAve you ever noticed how Aussie wildlife is not at ALL colourful? All greys and browns and mottled earthy tones? (Think about it – kangaroos, emus, even wedgetail eagles).
This is why…
He was busy being a STICK, man. Very, very still and almost vertical amongst the grass…
Watching me, watching him, watching me…
Oh – it’s a bearded dragon by the way. Cute little fellas, especially when they see you coming and transform into little logs!
Now for something not QUITE so cute…
He’s more, “I’m a tree”.
I wonder how many times I have ridden by an ironbark tree and been completely unaware of the sand goanna watching me from above, or peering at me from amid fallen timber?
They aren’t aggressive at all (to humans) but I do think they all need a good manicure.
To me, this photo – goanna, ironbark tree, waving leaves and blue sky – is pure Australia.
However, on inspection of this shot, I think a pedicure could be in order too, though.
