Vistas and rivers – Poll #7
Time for something a little more… sweeping… than the up-close-and-personal nature of most previous Calendar polls.
This selection, for your voting and viewing pleasure, features wide lenses, big skies and our River.
Ready to rock and roll?
RED ROAD RISING – A much-used road at the top end of our place, I love the simple lines and hues of this shot. Green, red, blue and white. And all that grass… *sigh*
BLUE GUM DREAMING – The colours reflected in the river on this day were so soft and pastel and divine. And those gum leaves… makes me want to get my hammock out!
WATER COLOURS – Shot the same day as the image above, this just makes me want to sit all day and look.
LAST LIGHT – Returning from Dash’s favourite river fishing spot, the last warmth of the sun lit up the sky and clouds overhead. Silhouettes sing, don’t they?
FROM THE AIR – taken during my (very exciting) chopper ride after the floods in February, this shot captures the often-featured ‘Big Bridge’ from the air. Love the merging gullies all reaching down the broad sweep of river too…
NOON RIVER OUTING – my little family dwarfed in the riverscape as they putt-putt around in our tinny. Taken in December, before the floods, you can see how the river had dropped and the edges dried with heat. Love the contrast of textures.
SWEEPING SKIES – Glorious cloud formations in our big bush skies – framed by foliage of a tree near our house, and underscored by the River and Knob.
MORNING MARES – Sunrise, fog, ironbarks and horses. Our front paddock before the world gets up…

I think “From the Air” – does give overseas and Interstate buyers a good look at your region of Australia (Qld) at what the countryside looks like in the good rain times and not the drought times (best forgotten those times!).
So I voted “From the Air”.
If I may be so bold, I think the “Snooze Silhouette” is the best and should feature as a fitting reward to your beloved, Lacy, on her life and when and where she decided to depart this World. Sometimes, sentiment gets the better of me – not often!

That’s very sweet Colin… I know what you mean. The Snooze Silhouette is actually Pickles – Dash’s current steed. I might try and sneak a little photo of Lacey into the date side of the calendar page, in her honour. 🙂
